BRUCE'S LITTLE BONUSES

Once upon a time there were 12 Retrievers (10 goldens and 2 labradors) all rescued
from a high kill pound in Romania where the puppy farm owner had dumped them.
Undoubtedly, the conditions they had lived in would have been appalling. Five were found
to be totally healthy and made the journey over to the UK but the others had to wait until
they were pronounced fit. Because of the treatment they received, none of the 7
were able to have their family unplanning operations.

They all built up their health and strength except for Star who was still a bit poorly and
had to spend a couple of days with the vet but, thankfully, he was declared fit
enough to travel too.

Bruce and the ladies were all put together for a couple of days awaiting the transport to
take them to England and, as always, it was very busy in the rescue so nobody noticed
that 3 of the ladies had come into season .... well, nobody noticed except Bruce, that is.
He was, after all, already a proven stud dog and at least one of the ladies had borne
his babies before.

All the dogs endured the transport and the 2 days in the quarantine kennels and then
they all went off to their respective foster homes where they were treated to all the
benefits and TLC of living in proper homes for the first time in their lives.

Very quickly afterwards, one by one, they all went off to their wonderful new
Forever Homes and everyone was delighted for them. However, their story doesn't end
there because Cassie, the youngest of the group was exhibiting some strange signs which
caused alarm bells to ring. Sure enough, for the first time in her very young life, she
was going to become a Mum.

Panic ensued as the other 4 ladies were checked and 2 more were also found to be having babies. Fortunately, Heidi and Rosie were able to stay with their forever mums but Cassie's forever
parents and 2 siblings Lucy and Jilly were due to go off on holiday and as the births were
imminent, Cassie went to stay with a lovely experienced midwife called Aunty Pat.

Heidi was the first to give birth on 29th April 2015, followed by Cassie on 1st May and Rosie on 3rd May. Thanks to Bruce, the ladies of IRR became proud grandmothers to 13 gorgeous,
healthy Brucie Bonuses.
