Summer Brown

Gone to Rainbow Bridge

THE SADDEST NEWS (5.7.2011 – 29.10.2024)

A devastated Phil told us “On Sunday 6 th October, we sadly had to have our lovely baby girl, Summer, put to sleep. After a short illness, with her not eating or drinking, we took her to the vets on Sunday morning. The vet ran a test but, sadly, the results weren’t good. Her liver scores were off the charts and the scan showed it was cancer of the liver so there was nothing anyone could do for her.

She passed away, peacefully in our arms.

Summer was born in 2011 so being 13 was a pretty good innings but, naturally, if we could have, we wanted her to keep going forever. Summer was a wonderful foster sister, always being the first to greet and make the foster dog welcome. She would also show them the ropes around the house.

We are all heartbroken because she was such a character and loved nothing more than getting into loads of mischief, especially when she still had her beloved baby brother, Duke, to play with.

It took a lot for her to get over his very sad loss but, for sure, Duke will have been there patiently waiting to help Summer to peacefully cross over the Rainbow Bridge where they could be happily reunited once again and, no doubt, they will already be getting up to loads of mischief there, both together and with all their other very special IRR angel friends.

LIFE WITHOUT SUMMER

A few days on, Phil said they were all doing a bit better. Maisie hadn’t been well a few weeks before but, thankfully, she seems to be on the mend especially now she is taking Librela to help with her arthritis.

He said they had had some lovely comments from friends regarding Summer and that all the support and kindness had helped them all to come to terms with their heartbreaking loss.
