Alfie
Alfie is a 2 years old Golden Retriever. As usual, he was vet checked, castrated and rabies vaccinated to meet the legal requirements to enter the UK.
HAPPY IN HIS FOREVER HOME (16.1. 2019)
A delighted Stephanie told us “Just to reassure you, all is going brilliantly. We have fallen in love with Alfie.
He is so gentle and sweet. He has met the cats a few times now and took his lead from River so I’m sure he thinks they are just very odd little dogs!
He has been enjoying his walks, scoffing his food and getting on well with River. This was him cuddled up on the sofa last night.
HISTORY
Alfie entered IRR care on 1st December 2018. He was surrendered because his family didn’t have enough time for him. We were told he had been trained and was good with dogs and children.
PERSONALITY
Alfie is a gorgeous boy!! He is extremely affectionate and wants to be near you all the time.
Although he does have a gentle nature, he will jump up and mouth when he is excited but, all in all, he is a really nice boy who will do well wherever he goes.
He is quite confident, playful and happy whilst being alert and inquisitive, calm and laid back
HEALTH
Alfie is skinny and could probably afford to put on a couple of kilos. He has a cough/retching which is worse in the morning and when he’s excited but, otherwise, he is a very healthy boy.
SOCIAL LEARNING
TRAVEL: He is quite a good traveller
HOUSETRAINING: Alfie is housetrained and will ask to go out.
BASIC TRAINING: He is well socialized and trained in basic commands. He will sit, give paw and lie down.
LEADWALKING & RECALL: Alfie walks nicely on a lead and with a body harness. His recall in the garden is good.
RESOURCE GUARDING: He shows no evidence of resource guarding
SEPARATION ANXIETY: Alfie’s only “fault” is he hates being left in a room alone even for 5 minutes and he will scratch the door and become frantic!
ADULTS: He is very friendly with adults
CHILDREN: Alfie is very friendly with children but would be a bit too much for small children at the moment
DOGS: He is very friendly with other dogs. He has mixed well with my dogs after one or two initial “handbags at dawn scraps“ with a couple of the boys but that has all settled down now.
CATS: Alfie is untested with cats
PARROTS: He has been very focused on the parrots to the point of obsession so I was very careful with them.
ALFIE’S DREAM HOME
Alfie is such a lovely boy he would do well almost anywhere but, ideally, he would love an adult home where someone was around most of the time and with the company of a resident dog to help him settle. His forever humans are going to be extremely lucky, for sure.
JANUARY 2019
Alfie has gone to live in his Forever Home.
