Bailey
Bailey is a lovely 2 yr old castrated, cream/ light gold Golden Retriever. As is usual, he has been health checked and has received the necessary vaccinations to come to the UK.
HISTORY
He was relinquished by a family who couldn’t give him the time he needed.
HEALTH
His ears were a bit mucky but, otherwise, he is very healthy.
PERSONALITY
Bailey is a lovely extremely friendly boy. He has loved everyone he has met … adults, children and other dogs. He can sometimes get a bit over excited and silly acting very puppyish and will pinch a cushion or start to chew something he shouldn’t but he responds to a firm “No”.
He has slept every night in our room but, if he starts mooching, a firm “ go lie down” generally works. Adopters need to be aware they will wake up to him licking their faces!
SOCIAL LEARNING
TRAVEL:
He usually travels well and I was pleased to see him jump straight in the car.
HOUSETRAINING:
He is house trained although he did have a few accidents in the first week which was understandable because he was a bit of a worried lad when he first arrived.
BASIC TRAINING:
Bailey is fed twice a day morning and evening but will very quickly fit in with a new routine. He gets very excited when you are preparing his food and bounces about on his front legs when you head towards him with his dish. I have found if I hold my hand up when you stand in front of him he will sit! You don’t even need to speak. He is very gentle when he takes treats. He will also sit and give paw and go lie down when told.
LEADWALKING and RECALL:
He walks pretty well on his harness and lead. He does weave about a bit but he is not too strong. He can be nervous of passing cars and tractors if they are noisy or come close. This makes him cower and pull back but he is getting better. RESOURCE GUARDING: He has not been at all food possessive but I’m not one of those who wants to stick my hand in his dinner to find out!
SEPARATION ANXIETY:
He has been left for a couple of hours on a few occasions and has been fine.
ADULTS: and CHILDREN:
He has loved everyone he has met, both adults and children
DOGS:
He is extremely friendly with other dogs.
BAILEY’S DREAM HOME
Bailey is a wonderful dog who could fit in almost anywhere. He would probably love to have owners who are are home most of the time and who have plenty of time to devote to him. A canine companion would be the icing on his cake.
JULY 2018
Bailey has gone to live in his perfect Forever Home with Gina and Mike on the Isle of Man.
