Barney

(Was Bones)

Barney (was Bones) was very reluctantly surrendered by his previous owners because of serious health issues within the family.

He was fostered in Somerset with Belinda and Terry who said, “Barney is a lively 7 month old golden retriever puppy but we certainly didn’t expect such a big, beautiful boy! He very quickly made himself at home and although he is bigger than all our goldens, he still chose the smallest one, Millie, as his best friend and playmate. Whenever Millie has had enough of playing she makes it very obvious to Barney but instead of being warned off, he turns round, bumps into her with his bottom, and starts all over again.

Barney showed a very lively interest in our cat and the chicken, but has the loveliest temperament. He loved our grandchildren but could be very overpowering for a smaller child.

Barney has gone to his forever home in Swindon with Paul and Lin where he will be loved to death.”

BARNEY IN HIS NEW HOME

Paul said. “Just to let you know that Barney is settling in well and has had a nice weekend. He met my brother and his family today and also went to my Mum and Dad’s house today.

He seemed to really enjoy all the fuss and attention he received from everyone, he has also had a couple of short walks.

UPDATE 7 APRIL

Barney has settled in really well he has brought the house back to life again! He was a little unsettled on his first 2 nights with us but since then he has been fine and now sleeps through the night.

He really enjoys his daily walk through the woods and down by the little stream, he loves to investigate all the different smells along the way.

He walks very well on the lead without a harness, and every dog he meets on the way is his best friend regardless of their size. He loves to spend hour after hour in the garden either playing or just chilling out. We love to watch him as he tries to creep up on the pigeons in our garden they always seem to outsmart him though and we are sure they always will!

We feel so lucky that we have been given the opportunity to give such a young dog a second chance in life and we love him to bits, he really is a very special young fella.”

UPDATE 21 MAY 2011

Barney is doing really well and settled in lovely, he loves his walks and playing in the garden. He has a new little friend called Milley (as seen in the photos) – he loves her to bits!!

UPDATE 22 SEPTEMBER 2011

Barney has really become part of our family, and he is growing into a real character.

He is loving, cheeky and very strong willed at times !! He loves his daily walks through the woods or down by the river where he takes the occasional dip. We love to buy him new toys, because when we give them to him he has us in stitches as he gets so excited and starts to prance around the house looking really chuffed with himself .

He had a great 1st Birthday on August 28 – plenty of presents and a doggie cake but he did struggle to blow the candles out!

February 2012

We think it was Barney’s first experience of snow as he was so excited in the garden yesterday evening when he saw it he was running around trying to catch the flakes in his mouth. think He really is a lovely fella and has become a very important part of our family.

He loves his walks and playing with his toys – some days he is full of mischief and keeps us both very busy, but he also loves to curl up in the evening next to Linda on the sofa.
