Ben

Ben is  a stunning,  pure white 2yr old castrated Golden Retriever. He received the usual vet checks and had his inoculations in Ireland before traveling to the UK where he is being fostered by Keren and David.

HISTORY

Ben was relinquished by a family who didn’t have enough time for him

PERSONALITY

Keren says “What can I say? Ben is a sweet, very loving, typical young Goldie and what a fabulous head he has on him.

Ben is an absolute sweetheart who adores cuddles and kisses. He likes to lie on the floor next to you and has started lying on his back on the floor with his tummy exposed.   He loves his soft toys (or should I say our dogs soft toys) and to play tug with toys in his mouth. He also enjoys chasing a ball.

Ben is a little clumsy and doesn’t understand personal space so he often stands on your feet.   He will always push his way in to the front for a stroke, a cuddle or if there’s a possibility of a nice treat!

We plan to take him into town when it is quieter to see how he is out and about without the other dogs

Ben is a young lad who will be a  fabulous addition to any family.

HEALTH

Ben has beautiful white teeth and is very healthy. He has a very good appetite

SOCIAL LEARNING

TRAVEL:  He is, now, happy and content travelling in a vehicle. Ben is much better at travelling having realised vehicles don’t mean he’s going to be taken away somewhere else but, simply, that he is going on a nice walk and then coming home again.

HOUSETRAINING: Ben is house trained, in fact, he is very clean indeed.

BASIC TRAINING:  Ben didn’t even know the command sit when he arrived. He has, now, learned to sit and wait for his food.  I think he will be very easy to train as he is s typical food orientated Goldie.

I’ve been trying to teach him to give a paw but when I lift his paw he just falls down in a heap and wants me to tickle his tummy or play with him lol

LEADWALKING: We haven’t used a slip lead or a halti on him but Ben will walk to heel on a short lead when wearing his harness

RESOURCE GUARDING:   He shows no evidence of resource guarding but Ben is greedy and gets very excited when food is about to be served to the dogs so we separate him from the others.

SEPARATION ANXIETY: He shows no real sighs of separation anxiety. To start with, Ben was pushy and wanted attention all the time. He followed us everywhere in the house. This was understandable after the sudden change to his little life having been separated from his family, put in kennels then driven to the uk. We were sure this will improve once he had completely settled   He sleeps well at night, on the floor in the bedroom, as he doesn’t like to be left on his own downstairs.

ADULTS: Ben is very friendly to all adults.  He was initially afraid of my husband but, now, he loves him and he has not shown any fear of men since he settled in.

CHILDREN:   He is very friendly with children. We child tested him with 6 children aged between one yr old to nine years old and he was excellent.

DOGS:   He very friendly with other dogs. Apart from our own dogs, he is good with dogs he meets on a walk  and he happily played with a family member’s small dog.

CATS:  Ben has become used to the cats over the last few days. He was only ever just interested in the cats, never aggressive towards them.

BEN’S DREAM HOME

Ben’s dream home would be one where people who are around most of the time and who will be willing and able to carry on with his positive training. He adores other dogs so he would love to be able to live with one or more.

He is a gorgeous boy so, for sure, he will reward his forever owners by being a loyal and fun loving companion.

SEPTEMBER 2018

Ben has gone to live in his Forever Home.
