GOODBYE TO OUR DEAR BOBBY (12.2.2017)

Sue told us ” It is with great sadness that I write to let you know that on Sunday, 12th February 2017, we had to say goodbye to our dear Bobby

We rescued him in 2005 and he spent 12 wonderful and active years with us.  Sadly, he had a large stomach tumour which none of us were aware of and, after collapsing suddenly, he had to be put to sleep.  He is already sorely missed.

He will be much missed by us and by his best friend, Molly, who we rescued in 2006. She is now 11yrs old. Bobby is on the left in the recent photo, taken when they were waiting patiently for treats”.

A couple of weeks on, Sue said “We are still adjusting to life without Bobby and taking care of Molly who is following us around everywhere and seeking reassurance all the time. It’s hard to know what  she is thinking or how she is feeling.

We are so pleased to see that so many lovely dogs are still being rescued and we would like to say thank you to IRR for giving us the opportunity to have such a wonderful dog in our lives for the last 12 years.

He was loving, intelligent, funny and became such a big part of our family from that first day, even though we were only meant to be fostering him!

We realised on day one that he had found his forever home with us. He is sorely missed”.

We are all so sorry to hear about Bobby. It seems like only yesterday that Sue and Chris adopted him. We know there is a huge Bobby size hole in their lives now but he will always be in their hearts.

Not today or tomorrow but soon, the grief and sadness will start to pass and be replaced by the most wonderful memories of Bobby playing with his best friend, Molly. She has never known life without him so, like her family, she must be feeling very lost.

We hope they can all take comfort knowing Bobby didn’t suffer for a long time with his illness. It was a wonderful end for him though absolutely devastating for everyone else.

Almost a month on, Sue and Chris thanked IRR for Bobby’s wonderful, fitting tribute and told us “Molly seems to be doing OK. She’s still demanding lots of attention but that’s fine by us as we are happy to give it to her. Last weekend our children, now young adults, came home and we held a little ceremony for Bobby.  We scattered his ashes in his favourite spot in the nearby river. It was very sad but gave everyone a chance to say goodbye to him”.

In 2005 Bobby was rescued from the pound. He went into foster in Cheshire with a super family who fell in love with and adopted him. 

On 5.6.05 Bobby passed his Kennel Club Puppy Foundation Training Course

In 2006, another IRR rescue, called Molly, joined the family and became his best friend.
