Brenda Houghton
A SAD GOODBYE TO A LOVELY LADY (1932-8.4.2018)
On Monday 9th April, Brenda’s son Kevin told us “I’m sorry to have to tell you that my Mum, Brenda, passed away early Sunday morning, peacefully in her sleep, following a rapid decline in her health”.We sent our condolences to the rest of Brenda’s family and special love to Kevin but he assured us Poppy was being very proficient in the hugs department, bless her.
Donations at Brenda’s funeral were very kindly being made to us at Irish Retriever Rescue. Both Poppy and Rory attended while Rupert chilled at home and, as always, they behaved impeccably. Alice and her boys were featured in the Order of Service which was a very happy celebration of Brenda’s long and happy life.
A lovely Mother and Grandmother to her grieving family, we IRR folk will always remember Brenda as “Alice’s Mum” and, every October, in particular, she will always come into our minds as the wonderful hostess of the birthday bash which she put on with Kevin’s help for Alice’s three gorgeous boys, Jumble, Rupert and Rory and all their special people. After Alice’s passing, Poppy took over her duties as hostess to all the welcome guests,
Sadly, with Brenda’s health failing and Jumble no longer up to travelling, October 2017 was different and it was a much smaller get-together hosted by Rupert and Rory at their pad. Many happy memories of twelve amazing years were shared.and both Brenda and Jumble were talked about with great fondness as were Alice and Lisa, both at Rainbow Bridge.
Our thoughts are with Kevin and with Brenda’s whole family and her many friends and, of course, with little Poppy who adored her Mum from the moment she was adopted by her.
Goodbye lovely lady. We all miss you very much.
