Buddy Nelson Batey
Sad News 22 March 2021
Buddy passed to Rainbow Bridge on Monday 22 March 2021. Buddy’s mum, Amanda, described him as her “best failure” as he was initially one of her foster dogs, but he never left.
HISTORY
Buddy is 6 years old and neutered. He is a stunning looking dog.
Buddy is a surrender. He was picked up by a lady who was keen to foster but, on asking questions at the residence before he left, it was discovered Buddy was an outdoor dog and only had a kennel with two towels for a bed. As he had never been indoors, it was decided that he should go to a fosterer who also has a run and he can be outdoors.
PERSONALITY
On the whole, he is quite a calm placid dog and not at all bouncy and appears quite confident. He is not food aggressive even though he is slightly underweight and was fed on the cheapest of dog foods.
SOCIAL LEARNING
Housetraining: He will not come into the house at all. His fosterer has left the door open and invited him in to come and be part of the family but he stands on the step and just looks through the door at them. His fosterer will do her best to integrate him into family life.
Leadwalking: He hasn’t been walked in a long time as the previous owner had a bad back and couldn’t get around that easily so poor Buddy has been left to his own devices and is sure to be a “puller” initially.
Children: He is supposed to be excellent with children but this will thoroughly checked by his fosterer.
Dogs: In general, his behaviour around other dogs leaves a lot to be desired. He has, clearly, not been socialised with them so his idea of play is to head butt Pepper to get a reaction from her. For now, they have been completely separated. At the moment, it appears he would be better as an only dog.
Cats: Untested with cats
