Charlie
Charlie is a 5 yr old stunning, intelligent, energetic & very affectionate dog currently being fostered in Leeds who was recently surrendered in Ireland due to his constant escapism antics. However, whilst Sandie was fostering him he had no desire to escape, despite being surrounded by a field full of sheep and only having a 5 foot fence to scale – this was probably due to the constant stimulation and company of so many dogs.
Charlie has so far proved somewhat of a surprise to his new fosterer who has risen to every new cunning and clever challenge brought upon her, drastically improving her fitness levels. It would help if Charlie’s new carer is an athlete who can run faster than he can.
Although our boisterous Charlie is good with children and because of his love of the outdoor lifestyle, he requires an active adult home with an extremely secure garden with ‘Charlie-proof’ high fencing keeping him safe and secure.
Charlie gets on well with other dogs and is now walking well on the lead. His reaction to cats outside is now improving. His initial separation anxiety is greatly improved and he has been left alone with treat-filled kongs etc. (which he loves) for a couple of hours without any problems. Unusually for a retriever Charlie does not go around the home collecting trophies for his nest. Charlie will need time & effort invested to continue his fosterer’s training regime and would benefit greatly from agility classes.
Charlie needs a secure loving home where he would enjoy the mental and physical stimulation of other friendly playful dogs together with a very active life style.
CHARLIE HAS GONE TO HIS FOREVER HOME – MAY 2012
Charlie loves his new home in North Devon. He goes and runs around the fields everyday at our horse yard, plays with our Labrador, Buddy, and at the weekends I will be taking him to the beach.
He loves lying on the sofas and his belly rules his mind. If he hears food he is there in a flash!
Everyone loves him to pieces. We are so happy. It’s made such a difference to the Labrador as he was grieving for Ben my old retriever. He wakes me up at half six every morning with 2 woofs. And greets me with a lovely waggy tail.
Thank you so much. You have helped create a new and loved family member.
