Daisie
Daizie, who will be 3yrs old in September, is a stunning, deep golden, purebred female Golden Retriever. This wonderful girl has been spayed and has received all the necessary vaccinations and was groomed in Ireland.
HISTORY
Poor Daizie was an outside dog whose family also had little dogs that deliberately wound her up but who lived inside. She would press her nose on the glass and look at the little dogs all warm and cosy whilst she was outside in all weathers. One of the dogs really tormented her and, eventually, she snapped as she had had enough. Our Ireland Co-ordinator, was contacted and she, immediately, went to collect Daizie.
Kathryn was very unhappy with the situation and couldn’t wait to get her out of there. She soon realised the best thing Daizie could have done was to snap as that freed her. Since coming into IRR’s care, this lovely girl has only known love and understanding from our Irish fosterer, Tracey.
IRR promised the owners that we would get Daizie a fabulous home and that is exactly what we intend to do.
In the UK, Daizie went into foster with Michelle.
PERSONALITY
Daizie has a loving personality and, like most Goldens, she is very affectionate. On her first day in foster in Ireland, she danced with happiness in the kitchen. Needless to say, Tracey and her family loved her to bits. Michelle feels the same saying” She has a beautiful temperament and is a constant fuss monster. I love this dog”.
HEALTH
Daizie is very healthy apart from a sore eye which is already improving.
SOCIAL LEARNING
TRAVEL: She is happy and content travelling in a vehicle
HOUSETRAINING: Daizie is now house-trained and is clean. There have been no soiling issues whatsoever.
BASIC TRAINING: She does jump up which can be worked on especially as she does understand ‘no’. Michelle says she sits, lies and stays on command and knows how to give left and right paws.
RESOURCE GUARDING: Michelle says she has taken toys and food away from her with no problems. With dogs, she gets a bit wary when eating although she hasn’t growled etc at all.
SEPARATION ANXIETY: She needs human contact and company as much as possible. Daizie doesn’t like to be left alone but she doesn’t soil or howl etc rather, when left, she seems to withdraw into herself a bit like she thinks it’s a punishment. This is probably due to her background and needing to gain confidence.
LEADWALKING: Whilst in foster, she was walked 3 times a day by Tracey. Michelle says she only pulls on a lead when there is an interesting scent, otherwise, Daizie walks really well.
ADULTS and CHILDREN: She is very friendly with adults and is super sweet with children.
DOGS: In Ireland, Daizie was really good with other dogs. Tracy, has a fantastic, mature, laid back rescue Irish Setter called Beau, who is going to miss her very much.
Beau was often bullied by a Retriever across the street when on a walk and Daizie was also afraid but Beau protected her and, after that, she looked to him for comfort.
In the UK, Daizie has been ok with smaller dogs but seems apprehensive of big ones
CATS: Tracey says she chases cats but only in fun. There are no cats available for any further testing in her UK foster home.
DAIZIE’S DREAM HOME
Daizie is a country girl at heart but a coastal area would also be perfect for her. It is imperative that she be placed with another dog or dogs. A gentle male would be perfect for her. Daizie loves company so she would prefer to live with someone who is retired or works from home and has plenty of time to devote to her.
The people who adopt Daizie will feel they are truly blessed and as lucky as if they had won the lottery.
HAPPY IN HER FOREVER HOME (OCTOBER 2017)
Claire, her forever Mum, said “Our beautiful Daisie has settled really well and is so easy to love. She is just the most adorable and loving girl. You couldn’t wish for a better girl so thank you so very much.
She is growing in confidence as the days go on and bonding really well with Oscar and Sam. Her appetite is much better and she’s desperate to play off lead on our walks. She actually found her voice yesterday teasing Oscar!
I will keep you posted on her progress”.
