Daisy
Daisy and Millie are both cream coloured, 9 year old female, pure bred Golden Retrievers. They have both received all the necessary vaccinations and Daisy has been spayed. Millie is yet to be spayed but, as she is currently getting over a heat, this will be done in three months times. They will both be groomed before going to their forever home.
HISTORY
Daisy and her sister Millie were relinquished by their owners as they had sold their house and they couldn’t take them with them. IRR promised the owners that we would get them a fabulous home together. They have been together from birth and have forged a very strong bond that cannot be broken. Whilst in IRR care, the girls have found fame by getting a mention in the Irish Times and appearing on TV with Kathryn in the Ray D’Arcy Show on RTE
PERSONALITY
Daisy is the liveliest of the two and has a curious streak. She does tend to shred beds so plastic ones are best for her. Millie is the more timid of the two and looks to her sister for reassurance. She has no bad habits and is a sweetheart at best. They both have loving personalities and, like most Goldens, are very affectionate and they both love to be part of family life. They tend to fret when separated even for a short while so they would only be rehomed with each other. All they want is to be together.
SOCIAL LEARNING
TRAVEL: They travel well in the car as long as they have each other.
HOUSETRAINING: They are both house-trained
LEADWALKING: Daisy and Millie are easy to walk on a lead even though they haven’t been used to it. They are country girls at heart and love running free and playing ball or simply smelling and sniffing and checking things out.
RESOURCE GUARDING: Neither dog shows any food or toy aggression but it is always wise to feed dogs separately especially when they are in a new situation with strange dogs.
CHILDREN: They are both great with children
DOGS: Daisy and Millie both love other dogs
DAISY AND MILLIE’S DREAM HOME
They would best suit a family who live in the country, as the city tends to frighten them with all the noises and traffic. A home with some land would be ideal, where they can run around free from the possibility of traffic. A spot with forests would be wonderful so that they can get lots of exercise. It would be great if they had other dogs as it would broaden their interests and they wouldn’t be quite so reliant on each other. They are fantastic girls and they both deserve a home where they can be spoiled and loved and where they can live out their lives with each other.
