Fergie
When he came into rescue, Fergie was known as PUPPY SAM.
EIGHT YEARS ON (12.9.2014)
Caroline proudly tells us “I thought that it was time to give all at IRR the first ever update on my wonderful boy Fergie- previously known as Puppy Sam.
I have had him now for 8 years! He is fit, healthy and the most wonderful family dog with the biggest and most gentle heart and kind nature – not a bad bone in his body.
He took a long time to train initially as he was very nervous and so I had to build confidence and trust before he could learn from me as he would run away at the slightest opportunity. His capacity for escaping through tiny holes in a fence was remarkable! His recall was non existent for a long time, and that has been my biggest challenge, but he has finally mastered the skill at the grand age of 9!
I sadly lost my other Golden Retriever boy some weeks ago ( he was 12 and a half and Fergie’s best friend) so perhaps it is time to consider another rescue! I am a Guide dog puppy walker and Fergie has been the most wonderful playmate and role model for the assorted puppies that have passed through our home. Thank you so much for giving me this wonderful dog – he is truly special”.
