Gerry
Gerry is a young Golden Retriever who was surrendered by his owner due to a change in personal circumstances.
He was fostered by Wendy and Dave in Mansfield. Wendy said. “Gerry is coming up to his third birthday in May, he has been neutered and micro chipped, he has the most handsome wavy golden coat and the softest brown eyes l have seen on a retriever. Whoever had him before has spent a lot of time training him and he has been the most well behaved house guest. He sleeps happily on the rug in the day and his bed at night. He has made no attempt to venture upstairs or climb on furniture, he clearly knows his boundaries. He is clean in the house and waits by the door if he wants to go out, if he wants to come back in he sits patiently outside and waits.
Gerry is friends with everyone he sees, he walks well on the lead after the initial Goldie pull and settles down quite happily. He has done a 16 mile hike in the Welsh mountains and was as good as gold, happily walking by rivers without venturing in, although I can’t promise he would always be like that.
Gerry likes to play, he can be a bit too full on for the elderly dogs we have here, but has happily played with all visiting dogs. He has been tested with children and loves them but again when he is in play mode he may be too strong for small children.
Gerry would benefit from someone interested in doing dance and agility with him, it is obvious from what we have seen that he has been taught to dance at some point and is slightly frustrated that l don’t know the commands for him. His favourite party trick at the moment is to weave in and out between your legs whist grabbing his tail and spinning round…so funny to watch.”
UPDATE 18 MARCH
Wendy and Dave fell in love with Gerry, failing as fosterers for the 2nd time and giving him his forever home. He continues to enjoy his hiking trips with Dave and his dance classes with Wendy.
