Gromit Crofton

Gone to Rainbow Bridge

Monday 17 August – Saddest News

It is with a very heavy heart, we have announce, that today at 10.45am the Bridge welcomed its newest resident, Gromit Crofton.

Gromit arrived with IRR on 8th November 2019, over 16 years of age and one of the worst cases of neglect we’ve seen in our 16 years. You all know his story and how he ended up at the Crofton retirement home for geriatrics.

He was fortunate to have had almost 10 happy, happy months with Kathryn, her mum, and the oldie gang, Laurel, Charlie & Angel. We all think Gromit was the lucky one, but I know that Kathryn is the one that feels the luckiest… she was privileged to have loved and be loved by him.

Please hold Gromit in your hearts as he crosses the bridge and send Kathryn and her mum much love.

Gromit, you were loved and you touched the hearts of many, not a bad paw print to leave on this world and an exit that could have been so different if it wasn’t for IRR and kathryn.

Forever young now old fella xxx

History

HAPPY NEW YEAR, DARLING BOY (1.1.2020)

Poor old Gromit was found in an appalling state. At almost 16 years old, he had been thrown out like a piece of rubbish to die cold and alone

Thankfully, he was saved by IRR but he was too old and too frail to travel to the UK so, instead, he went to Kathryn as a Forever Foster Dog where the plan was she and her Mum would care for him with IRR’s financial support.

Today, saw the start of a New Year and a new decade and, for Gromit, a new status…….. he is no longer a foster dog as he is, now, a forever Crofton.

As a New Year gift to Gromit and to IRR, Kathryn officially adopted him. He was a Crofton through and through and, as such, she wanted to provide for him personally and not with IRR funds. To feel that he was truly part of her geriatric family, she wanted to pay for him and duly signed an adoption agreement, even though from the second he walked through the door, we had already considered him hers.

So all at IRR welcome, now officially, GROMIT CROFTON

He has already enjoyed his best Christmas ever

and now he has a wonderful life to look forward to with his new family.

Kathryn is a very genuine, kind and extremely caring person. How lucky is Gromit?

UPDATE 31.3.2020

I am delighted to announce that Gromit, my poor boy, snored last night beside the fire. Well, to anyone in rescue that means he has finally decided that he is safe and home and considering what he has been through at 16yrs old. He will be 17 in November that really is saying something.
