2018 Golden Successes
THE CHRISTMAS PUPPY
I turned up with a big red bow, a present for their child
A brand new toy to poke and prod, I must stay meek and mild
They let me on their sofa and even on their bed
They giggled as they teased me while I was being fed.
I was a special present so I could do no wrong
But soon my puppy fragrance became “that stinky pong”.
I was their little baby once. They showered me with cuddles
But they were cross to find I was the cause of mucky poohs and puddles
I nibbled on their slippers, I munched the child’s shoe
I shredded all the papers and wrecked their settee too
I was supposed to know the rules but I was still so small
Next, the place that I called home was in the draughty hall
The novelty had soon worn off so I soon went outside
I moved into a shed then and found a place to hide
I huddled in the corner where it was warm and dry
But feeling very lonely, my eyes began to cry.
I wasn’t sure what I did wrong. I always tried my best
I really never meant to be a “dirty little pest”.
The people all ignore me now. They say “I have to go”
I heard I’m going to the Pound. That isn’t good I know.
But, thank the Lord, nice people came and said they’d rescue me
I’d learn to be the bestest dog that I could ever be
Then when I knew the simple things that all good dogs should know
They’d get me my forever home and say “now off you go”.
I couldn’t be more happy. My life’s now really great.
I walk and play and live inside with another rescued mate.
The memories are fading fast of when my life was bad
I have the perfect home now with a lovely Mum and Dad.
