GOODBYE TO OUR LOVELY BOY (18.9.2019)

A very sad Karron told us, “In October 2011 it was our privilege to adopt Harold, my handsome funny baby boy.

Devastatingly, yesterday, 18.9.2019, advised by our vet, after a very sudden terrible illness, we had no choice other than to help him sleep.

We as a family are all heartbroken and our older dog is confused.

Harold was two and a half when he joined our family and we were very lucky to have him to love, and be loved by, for 8 years.

He was such a character who suited his name, which we decided not to change. Harold left an impression on all who met him, and he will never be forgotten. Thank you to IRR for rescuing Harold, and thank you for the love and fun that he was able to enrich our lives with.

RECENT HISTORY

HAROLD SO HAPPY IN HIS FOREVER HOME (MAY 2015)

Karron tells us Harold is as lively as ever and still full of mischief.

He did have to have an op to remove a lump that turned out to be malignant but, otherwise, he is in good health.

Apparently, Harold still thinks he is a puppy and doesn’t realise his own strength or size. He loves his walks, watching tv, having cuddles and playing with Abbie, their other dog.

Karron says ” We love him dearly and he keeps us on our toes! I can’t imagine being without him”.

EARLIER HISTORY

November 2011: Harold went to his Forever Home

NOV 2011: FIRST UPDATE FROM HAROLD’S FOREVER HOME

Harold came to live with us on Friday evening. We had a good journey home from Jayne’s house (Harold’s fosterer) and Harold liked watching the traffic on the motorway.

He has settled in well and sleeps all night. He has made friends with our other dog Abbie and is enjoying discovering all the local walks.

We adore him and think that he thinks we are ok too.

AUGUST 2012: SECOND UPDATE FROM HAROLD’S FOREVER HOME

We collected him in October of last year, and I can honestly say, things have never been the same since! He has settled in well and no longer tries to sit on your lap – but licks you instead!

He never looks where he is going on walks, preferring to look behind him to see what is going on. Lately, he has walked into a fence, a parked van, me, a lamp post and has fallen off the kerb on numerous occasions. Every day at work I get asked –“ what’s Harold done now?” It’s what makes him, him, and we wouldn’t have him any other way. I should write a set of childrens books ‘What Harold did next!’

When we took him to the beach the second time, he decided he didn’t like the sand and climbed onto the deckchair. He likes to know what is going on all the time and doesn’t want to miss out. He took to looking over the fence into the neighbour’s garden, so we have had to put a larger panel up to give them some privacy. But he isn’t too keen on the groomers and the groomer finds him a challenge even though she breeds Golden Retrievers and also takes in rescue Retrievers!

Harold brings us so much enjoyment. Our other dog Abbie is great with him, and they love to play rough and tumble together. Harold is the most funny, loving, handsome dog you could ever wish to meet and gives us hours of fun with his escapades. The only downside is his jumping up when anyone comes home or to visit, and not being able to let him off the lead. He is slowly improving and knows he will not get any attention when he jumps up, until he sits down.

Harold is in very good health and is nice and trim. He is a very happy, playful Goldie, who loves cuddles. He sleeps very well at night and knows when its time for bed. As I write this, he is lying by my feet having forty winks. Thank you for letting him join our family, we love him to bits.

JUNE 2014 UPDATE FROM HAROLD’S FOREVER HOME

Karron says “We have now had Harold for 2 and a half years and I can honestly say he is as boisterous as ever and thinks he’s a pup! He is so funny and extremely loveable. Harold loves cuddles and play fighting with our other rescue dog Abbie. Unfortunately he has recently developed a lump which turned out to be cancerous. The surrounding tissue was clear, so fingers crossed. We love Harold so much and he always makes us smile”.
