HE FOUGHT SO HARD BUT DEAR HARRY FLEW WITH THE ANGELS (16.3.2020)

We shut ourselves away for a while

It was a privilege to care for him and share such an incredible love and bond with Harry. He has left the most enormous imprint on our hearts.

Lynne, who was Acting Re-homing Coordinator and with Pauline as her Assistant when Harry was adopted agreed “We both knew Sarah was absolutely the best person for Harry and we got that exactly right for sure.

God bless you, Harry. Fly with the angels lovely precious boy “

Many thanks must go to Sarah and Justin for all they did for Harry from start to finish and unconditional love and devotion they gave him .

A VERY SAD HISTORY

Harry is a Golden Retriever who strayed into someone’s garden on Christmas Eve 2014. He was starving, stinking and frozen and appeared to have been suffering like this for a long time.

His facial colouring gives one the impression that he is a lot older but the veterinary surgeon assured IRR that Harry was between 5 and 6yrs.

He had been taken to the local Pound and kept for 5 days but, of course, nobody claimed him. He was in a dreadful state, and the groomer of the local Pound kindly took him and sorted poor Harry out. He was very thin and he still needs to put on a fair amount of weight. A fosterer connected with another rescue looked after Harry until IRR could get him. He has since been neutered.

FOSTER ASSESSMENT

Harry is affectionate, loves people and water, like most Goldens do, and has plenty of energy.

He tends to gobble his food, as it would seem he hadn’t eaten for a long time before he was found. It would seem that in his short life he hasn’t had it easy.

SOCIAL LEARNING

Leadwalking: Work on the lead is a must and letting him off lead is a not a good idea, unless in an extremely secure area, as his recall is non existent so far.

Children: Untested with children

Dogs: He seems to be fine with any dog and enjoys lots of interaction with other dogs

Cats: Untested with cats

DREAM HOME

He really needs a home with another dog to show him the ropes and a little time with kind, patient adopters showing him that life can be good, people can be kind and the world is not as harsh as it seems despite what he has been through.

SOME GOOD NEWS (March 2015)

Harry went to live in his Forever Home

UPDATE ON HARRY (24.3.2015)

Sarah tells us “Harry has been with us for just over 3 weeks and we love him to bits! He is so loving and enjoys nothing better than a big hug and lots of fuss.

We don’t think Harry had ever been on a lead and he is still nervous when outside. As he lived on the streets for a while, it’s taking a little time to help him realise that being outside can be fun but he is doing really well and he is improving daily. He has settled in the house just fine and he and Clancy (our 11 and a 1/2 year old Golden) are starting to bond really well.

We are still trying to put some weight on him as he really was skin and bone when we got him. He also has no muscle tone so he has hydrotherapy once a week ……… he’s not keen but he is getting use to it! ”

We are all looking forward to further updates and hearing about Harry going from strength to strength in his wonderful forever home.
