UPDATE FROM EAST SUSSEX ON OUR HARRY (1.3.07)

Sue said “I thought I would update you on Harry (originally called Todd) now that we have had him nearly a year, strange though, it feels as he has always been here! HARRY is just a most perfect dog, he is loving, mostly obedient, fun, and gentle, he has the nick name GRUMPY, as he has no facial expressions and grunts a lot, he really does make us happy, he greets us every morning with wagging tail and as many of his toys in his mouth that he can cram in, he quickly learnt our routines and the few rules of the house.

In the first few months he ate 5 pairs of my shoes but now we can leave them and he will just sniff them, though we won’t take the chance and leave him alone with any. He has a run most mornings with CHARLIE ( was SOL, his white lab friend, that was placed with friends) and they both seem to love the mud, they find the muddiest parts of the field and play tug with a stick until one of them rolls over, then it is back to the garden for a hose down, not a part he likes, in fact he has a dislike of water, loves the beach but not the sea, won’t go out if it is raining, strange for a lab!

He went to a few obedience classes last year and was a quick learner, but he really is a good dog and he knows who his masters are so we gave up with them. In January he went in kennels for 10 days, it was heartbreaking as he seemed to know we were going to leave him, they had to drag him in to the place, but when we went to get him back he took time to recognise us and whimpered on the way home as if he wanted to return, he was very subdued at home but the next day, when he realised he was home to stay, he was back to his old self, and he learnt how to bark at everything while at the kennels.

I just want to say thank you again for finding Harry for us, he really is an important part of this family and we could not be without him”.
