Holly
FROM FREE AD GIRL TO A VERY HAPPY ONE
Holly was advertised in one of the ‘free ad’ publications for sale for €50. Sandie contacted the owner and drove the 200 mile round trip to get her from her owner. Holly is 8 years old and weighed 41 kilos when she got her. Her coat was in a terrible state, so a visit to Suzzie our groomer, was the first thing on the agenda, where she was shampooed and groomed. She came out looking like a different dog altogether. Holly was far too large to spay so it was decided to leave her for a while until she got some weight off.
Holly was re-homed in Ireland to Jennifer whose family have given a home to 5 dogs from Sandie over the years. Brad was rehomed to Jennifer’s Mum, Marie about 15 years ago, he was about 8 when they got him and he lived to the ripe old age of 15. In the meantime Marie got Bonnie a golden retriever cross from another rescue. Charlie was re-homed to Marie and her son Martin about 3 years ago and he gave a new lease of life to Bonnie. Not long after that Benson and Milo were re-homed with Jennifer’s sister Fiona and partner Niall. It doesn’t matter what time of the day or night or what weather is like, you will always see one of the family out walking with their dogs. Not only was Jennifer reared with golden retrievers, she also has a diploma in veterinary care.
A few words from Jennifer about Holly
When I got Holly she was so depressed her head hung low and her tail down, but since I have given her a home she has totally come out of her shell and is like a different dog. Her tail is always wagging and she loves to go walking. She has a great personality and is very funny all she needed was a bit of attention and care. Her life has been turned around and is a very happy dog and loves her mate Charlie. Holly now has a wonderful life, being walked for at least an hour a day and she loves nothing more than being down on the beach running in and out of the tide with Charlie. Needless to say Holly has lost about 6 kilos.
