Holly Ashwood
Sad News 29 August 2021
Patrick said, “Today I said the saddest goodbye to my beautiful Labrador Holly, aged 14.
She has been my constant companion through adult life and above all my rock in rescue work. For those who don’t know me I have made my life’s work the rescue of elderly retrievers, and since Holly came to me as an abused 6-month-old dog, we have welcomed 33 others and she has shown the gentlest warmth and kindness to them all, including IRR Willow (my first) followed by IRR Angel, Oscar, Molly, Norma-Jeane and my mum’s crew next door IRR Buzz, Francis and Byron.
Today I am totally broken as I have never been before but I could not watch her in pain for another day.
She was not an IRR dog but supported me in all my rescue work and it would not have been so easy without her kindness, care and generous nature.
I hope she is up there what all my goldies looking down on me thinking get a grip Dad. I couldn’t have done this without Holly she was always my “test” Dog with anyone new, she was the first introduced always in the safe knowledge she had a pure heart of gold.”
