Jake Jackson
Sad News, February 2022
Jake’s mum said, “We lost our beautiful polar bear, IRR Jake last week. He arrived on a cold wet November night in 2015 and lit up every day for us since. We are devastated, he helped us through some difficult times and brought us so much love, happiness and laughter.”
History
JAKE’S SECOND GOTCHA DAY
Dad, Ross, says “Happy 2nd Gotcha Day Jake! Hope you’ve had a good one and enjoyed your ribeye steak for tea! Thank you IRR, Heather Hawthorn, Carol Robertson and your good man for bringing him into our lives. We can’t imagine our lives without him!”
HISTORY
Jake is a gorgeous male Golden Retriever who was 5 years old in 2015. He was neutered and microchipped.
He came from a Pound in Northern Ireland so his history is limited. Jake was very thin and weighed only 26kgs. It appears, at some point, he had been tied up with a chain. Fortunately, the Pound contacted IRR about him.
PERSONALITY
Jake is is a lively lad. He is a very gentle boy with no obvious faults. He is just looking for affection and cuddles which have, clearly, been lacking in his previous home
SOCIAL LEARNING
Lead Walking: Jake is strong on a lead and does pull a bit but he is improving
Separation: Jake settles well.
Food: He isn’t food agressive or possesive and eats very gently. Initially, he was drinking lots of water and not peeing an awful lot so this was watched carefully but all was well.
People: He loves men and doesn’t seem scared of them. He was great with Heather’s two boys aged 14 and 11yrs.
Dogs: He got on well with Pepper and three other rescues dogs in Heather’s home but he didn’t get on so well with Carol’s Sparky which was unfortunate as she was going to foster him. This meant, with Heather full to bursting with dogs, he had to go into kennels.
Cats: He doesn’t particularly like cats but isn’t agressive towards them.
JAKE’S DREAM HOME
Jake needs a home where he will continue with his socialisation and general obedience training and where he will learn his boundaries whilst receiving all the love and care that he deserves.
GOOD NEWS (November 2015)
Jake went to live in his Forever Home where he was soon very happy and settled.
