Gone to Rainbow Bridge

SADLY, SHE WENT TO RAINBOW BRIDGE ( 6 March 2012)

This is a tribute from SANDIE

Jessica is reunited with her soul mate Isabelle at Rainbow Bridge on 06 March 2012 and they are now really enjoying the biggest of cuddles as they always did.

Jessica was 13 years old and came to live with us 5 years ago (almost to the day) after her elderly owner died. She had to have both sides of her mammaries stripped when she arrived and had several other medical issues during her life. She loved her runs down on the beach in the mornings and would even sometimes have a paddle. She was a bit like the black sheep of the family and was sometimes picked on by foster dogs through no fault of her own as she was ‘different’. She missed Isabelle so much as they were always cuddled together, although she used to cuddle into the others, they weren’t as welcoming of her as Isabelle was.

You have left a big hole in my heart and I’ll always see you on the poufe in front of my sofa. Sleep well my love – you are missed by everyone.

JESSICA

You gave me a home when my owner couldn’t cope,
it was upsetting for me, but you gave me hope.

I had two operations when I came to you,
I recovered so well and it was all down to you.

I think you knew how much I loved you and you couldn’t
let me go,
you made me so happy and I made sure that you would know.

I loved all the dogs and fosters too,
I helped them settle and loved them all too.

I loved cuddling up with all the dogs and you,
and I really missed Isabelle, who liked a cuddle too

You have shown me so much love and kindness too,
I have loved every day and the company too.

My legs had gone and you knew I couldn’t stay,
you made the kindest decision and let me drift away.

Please understand that the gift you have given me,
gave me back the strength I lost and all my dignity.

I will always stay very close to you,
you will feel all the love that I have for you.

History

Jessie is an 8 year old spayed Lab x puppy who was taken to the vet to be pts as her elderly owner had died and his wife couldn’t manage her any longer due to ill health. The vet phoned me and asked for my help as she’s such a lovely dog, naturally I went and got her straight away. Jessie suffered from a severe case of mastitis and in February had one side of her mamary glands removed, she had the other side removed 3 weeks ago – apart from that Jessie has a perfect clean bill of health. She was like a little barrel when she arrived but has lost 5 kilos and has far more energy as a consequence.

Jessie doesn’t have a mean streak in her body, gets on well with everyone – people, dogs and children. She can be very clingy and loves to sit at your feet and be close to you at all times. She’s the very opposite of food agressive and loves you to stand close to her or hold her bowl, if you walk away she tends to follow and leave her food.

Jessie’s perfect home would be where she was the only dog (only because she likes all the attention), with someone who was at home all day and teenage children who would come home from school and have a game of football with her.

Unfortunately, because Jessie is black, I can’t get a decent photo of her showing how lovely she is, but photos don’t show inner beauty anyway and Jessie has that in abundance.

UPDATE on JESSIE

Sandie totally fell in love with Jessie, almost from day one, and always wanted what would be the very best for her but, when her journey to the UK was delayed, Sandie decided that it was meant to be that Jessie should keep her forever.

UPDATE NOV 09

Jessica is a very happy and loving girl who enjoys an active life and lots of fun with her adopted brothers and sisters.

It’s really comfortable using Barkley as a back rest!

We were all very sorry to hear that Jessica has gone to Rainbow Bridge
