Lady Bailey
Bailey is a light gold 2 year old female, purebred Golden Retriever.
She is not yet spayed but this will be done shortly and she will also receive the necessary inoculations to obtain her EU Passport.
HISTORY
Through no fault of her’s, Bailey is, at present, in her second home. Her current owners only took her because the first owners hadn’t enough time for her. Bailey’s second home was always a temporary one until a more suitable situation could be found but they want to make sure it is going to be absolutely perfect for her.
PERSONALITY
Bailey is a bouncy little lady with an affectionate personality but this beautiful girl does need an experienced Golden Retriever owner who has had experience with nervous dogs.
SOCIAL LEARNING
Housetraining: She hasn’t been house-trained but this shouldn’t pose a problem as she is eager to please and someone with patience to teach her what to do will overcome this minor problem easily.
Food: She is not food possessive, though like all Goldens enjoys her food.
Leadwalking and recall: Her recall and lead work are both excellent.
Children : She is used to children, as she sits on the owner’s settee with her daughter and watches cartoons. However, the owner says that she likes to be the centre of attention and would be better with older teenagers who will interact more with her.
Dogs: Bailey is wonderful with other dogs but her first home was with a very dominant male who made Bailey a very submissive and nervous girl so the dog she is re-homed with must have a very gentle character and be one who will show her the ropes to rid her of this nervousness and help her blossom.
Cats: Whether she will have a problem with cats, remains to be seen.
BAILEY’S DREAM HOME
Bailey loves to swim and go for long walks, she loves open spaces and so an active couple or family with grown up teenagers would suit her well. It is, however, imperative that she be re-homed with another dog, preferably one a couple of years older than her who has already got his or her paws firmly under the table and knows the routine, so that she won’t get lonely and has a canine companion. As this girl is nervous, Bailey needs a canine companion who is a gentle soul not one who will dominate her. Bailey, like Juliet, is looking for her Romeo to make her life complete.
Socialisation to show Bailey that meeting other dogs need not be a frightening experience would be really good. Something like agility classes would be great for bringing out the best from this girl. She needs to be gently challenged with lots of praise to boost her confidence without the feeling of being pushed. Bailey would love a home with lots of space as this is what she has been used to. The family is very upset at losing their precious girl but they know that IRR will get the best home for her with someone who will pamper her for the rest of her life, as that is what was promised. We just know a magical, wonderful home awaits this precious girl with people who will love her and treat her like the beautiful lady she is as well as providing her with her special Romeo.
