Lola Jones
OUR BEAUTIFUL GIRL HAS GONE (26.9.2019)
On 27.9.2019, Lynne said “We are all very sad here today as we said “goodbye” to our lovely Lola yesterday. Within a little while, the most amazing rainbow appeared overhead so we know she is safe. We are all being very brave but the tears still keep falling”.
Lola strode into her Autumn in her own very determined way, supported by our two very special vets Nick Thompson Holisticvet and Roger Harrison of Bath Veterinary Centre. At around 15 years of age, everyone she met told us Lola was amazing, we always knew she truly was and always will be. Run free precious Lola.
Sleep Well precious Lola, Sleep peacefully in trust
For close around you crowd the hearts that love because they must
And as they close you round about, guarding you with their tears
So you are now at peace my darling through all our lonely years
Over the years, she made many friendships, one of the longest being with IRR Sammy who was a GSD that charmed his way into Sandie’s heart. She left behind the most recent addition to the family, her friend Gemini. Like the rest of the family, she misses her friend and mentor but, at least, she spent a lot of her life as an only dog so, fortunately, Gemini has accepted the new situation that she finds herself in.
This was taken at one of Gizzie’s Get Togethers in 2015 when Gemini was still fairly new to the family.
SKILLED PERFORMER and POPULAR SPONSOR DOG
Lola demonstrated her clicker trained obedience skills at the 2009 Reunion and, again, at the 2010 Reunion when she performed with her very own doggy associates called Lola’s Travelling Troupe. They were all trained by Lola’s clever mum, Lynne. All the dogs clearly demonstrated how to have great fun whilst, at the same time, being properly trained.
Lola was one of the most popular of IRR’s very special Sponsor Dogs for many years.
Lola was a young ex-breeding bitch who was mated at her very first season. When she arrived in foster in 2006 she was only about 18mths old and had, already had a litter of pups. She first spent a short time in foster in Plymouth but didn’t settle there so she was moved up to Bath with Lynne and Ian.
She was extremely nervous and needed a lot of work and several flower essence combinations before she could be rehomed but, of course, her fosterer “failed”, Lynne fell in love with her and she was adopted her.
In her perfect home, she became very happy, playful and well adjusted.
For many years, Lola was only too pleased to be a Sponsor Dog so that she could help IRR to rescue other bitches like herself from a life of torment. She proved to be extremely popular.
Thankyou so much to her many loyal Sponsors:-

In the picture L to R there is DRAKE, ZENA, STEVIE, CONNIE, GIZMO, DIGBY, PENNY and LOLA.
Unfortunately, ALICE, ANGEL & ALLIE, BOUNCER and MOLLY were unable to attend the 2009 Reunion but they hoped to see all their sponsors in 2010.
Lola’s sponsors were saddened to hear that nearing Lola’s 12th birthday in 2016, after 10 years of putting paw to paper, she was to embrace a well deserved retirement, which she happily enjoyed and as a dear old lady, Lola passed peacefully across Rainbow Bridge 26.9.19.
She was a very generous and extremely popular Sponsor Dog so she was missed very much.
Many thanks to everyone who kindly sponsored her.
A SAD UPDATE (September 2010)
In September 2010, poor Lola was feeling extremely sad as her very best friend, Jilly May passed over Rainbow Bridge in August 2010. Jilly would have been 11yrs in the September which was an amazing age for any Bernese Mountain Dog but especially so for one who had been diagnosed with terminal cancer in 2005.
Here is Lola with her very good friend, Jilly May.
and here is Lola and her best friends (L to R) Ellie, Connie, Jilly May and Sammy. All are now, sadly, gone to Rainbow Bridge.
