Lolly

(Was Lori)

LORI’S HISTORY

Lori (the name of the lady who rescued her) is approximately 4-6 years old. She was found as a stray and has recently had a litter. Unfortunately, Lori had a serious health problem and is on a week’s course of anti-biotics. Hopefully, this will clear up, but it is suspected that this could be a tumour.

NOV 2011: FOSTERER’S INITIAL REPORT – IRELAND

Sandie says: Lori is a really lovely girl, gets on well with all of my dogs and would be suited to any type of home as she’s so gentle.

NOV 2011: FOSTERER’S INITIAL UPDATE – UK

Jane says: Lori arrived in the UK recently after spending a few days with Sandie in Ireland. She is approx 4 years old and microchipped.

She is clean in the house and we don’t hear a peep out of her all night. She is fine with Tess & Harvey to the extent she totally ignores them and she is fine with the cats and the rest of our menagerie. Lori follows you everywhere, think she’s enjoying the human company and loves anyone that will give her some fuss. She appears to be fine with children and as soon as she hears them her tail doesn’t stop wagging. Very eager to please and has a lovely gentle nature.

Doubt if she has ever been on a lead but does like to go out for a walk, pulls like a steam train and wanders all over the place but I am sure that will soon come right. She loves the car and travels well.

She loves her home comforts and is not food possessive. She will sit, give you her paw and stay for a short period of time.

Lori had a big operation recently to remove her tumour at Jane’s Vet who consequently fell in love with her.

NOV 2011: LOLLY (was LORI) HAS NOW GONE TO HER FOREVER HOME

Just to let you know Lori has gone off to her new forever foster home with vet Gavin and his young family who performed Lori’s operation. They have renamed her Lolly as their young daughter cannot pronounce her ‘R’s!!

Gavin has promised to update us on how she does: why do some dogs touch you more than others:((((

Lori has certainly got the ‘luck of the Irish’ as this is the very best home for her, thats for sure!!

NOV 2011: 1st UPDATE FROM LOLLY’S FOREVER HOME

Lolly has settled in brilliantly. Gav took her stitches out assisted by our three year old son! She is much happier now without her buster collar.

I have introduced her to my parent’s farm which she thinks is the best place on earth. I even let her off the lead for the first time on Saturday when we were walking around the fields and she loved it, gambling around like a puppy. She nearly disgraced herself yesterday when she met a flock of guinea fowl, they were scattered and chased up trees but it was lovely to see her so happy. She has really taken to travelling in the car and has been great company when she has accompanied me to the office.

We think she may be a little deaf and have some sight problems too but we really love our very special “Old Girl”. The children adore her, and she them, brushing and snuggling up to each other. Gavin has even been seen tucking her into bed at night! She has been a great addition to our family and I think she is very happy in her new home.

Many thanks IRR for letting us give her a home.

DEC 2011: 2nd UPDATE FROM LOLLY’S FOREVER HOME

Oh my word, we can not believe what a wonderful dog we have been lucky enough to adopt. Lolly has settled in to family life and is a real member of the family. She even had two presents under the christmas tree! Admittedly one didn’t last long (she likes chewing!) but the other is her pride a joy – a soft fluffy toy she throws around. Lolly’s favourite place (when not racing around at my parents’ farm) is in front of the fire with one of the children resting their head on her.

Gav took her to work last week and ran some blood tests to see if anything was deteriorating (he was concerned about her kidneys as he can feel one of them, which isn’t normal but then we are expecting issues given her history). I’m delighted to report that all her blood results were within normal parameters so whatever is going on inside she is coping with.

Lolly’s story touches everone she meets. My Mom (who has her on days when I’m working away from the office) has really fallen for her. She takes her for long walks with her dogs all around the farm. Yesterday we took her for a walk around the trout pool – did you know that she loves swimming? She was fetching things and diving in and out, much to the children’s delight. The novelty wore off for Gav when she found something very unpleasant to roll in afterwards! Four shampoos later, she smells like apples but I think the bad smell had rubbed off on Gav!

Lolly is such a lovely friendly dog, I have already enquired about her becoming a PAT dog but we need to have owned her for six months before they will consider her.
