TILLY (MATILDA) LOVES IT DOWN ON THE FARM (15.5.2019)

Mary, her new Mum said” Tilly is lovely! She has settled in so well with the other dogs and, though a bit reticent with us initially, she  has now accepted us.  An apple from the hand seems to go down well.

Today, she met our farm tenants who came to do some fencing and she had a lovely time bouncing around being adored!

Paula, you did a superb job helping her to trust humans and we thank you so much for that.

We will love her and care for her forever.

Stop press:  She is now sporting her new IRR tag with pride

HISTORY

Matilda is a beautiful 5yr old Golden Retriever. She was vet checked and rabies vaxed to make her legal to travel to the UK where she went into foster with Paula who fell head over heels in love with her..

She was surrendered into IRR care at the end of January 2019. We were told her elderly owner was unable to care for her properly any more. They also told us she has been bred from by the owner’s daughter in the past.

PERSONALITY

Paula found Matilda to be very nervous and totally bewildered to start with but, every day, she has grown more and more in confidence.

UPDATE (APRIL 2019)

As with all the especially needy ones, they tug even harder on your heartstrings so nobody was surprised when Paula and Steve were finding it hard to resist Matilda’s charms and they even considered adopting her themselves

HOW COULD ANYONE RESIST MATILDA? HER FOSTER BROTHER TED HAS BEEN KEEPING A CLOSE EYE ON HER TOO
MATILDA IS SO CHILLED NOW AND HOW BEAUTIFUL IS SHE?

LOOKING FOR THE PERFECT HOME

Paula knew Matilda was still not without her hang-ups and she must not let her heart rule her head so she set about finding the most perfect home she possibly could for her very special foster girl. She was looking for that special someone who would accept Tilly and still love her warts and all.

A VERY HAPPY ENDING (12.5.2019)

The wonderful adopters turned out to be Mary and her husband who have a farm in Devon. They already have several dogs including two troubled middle aged IRR dogs, Willow and Rocky, who had both also needed a peaceful country environment in which to live.

Paula and Steve took Tilly down to Devon to meet her new family and, although she was still understandably very nervous of the new humans, she took to the dogs, especially Willow, straight away. It was clear they were soon going to be besties and playmates. So, things couldn’t be better.

Good work, Matilda!!!!!!!!
