Max and Harley Evans

Update August 2020

The boys’ dad Jeff writes, “Two months on with IRR Max & Harley in their new home. These two boys came into my life and turned it upside down – but in a good way. They settled in well and soon became comfortable but as the time went on they have become more confident, happier and relaxed.

Very different characters but both totally loving, devoted and adorable. They are full-on all the time, love their walks and, of course, their food – but most of all the cuddles. Thanks again IRR.”

Update June 2020

Max and Harley have found their forever home.

Max and Harvey

Fosterer’s Update May 2020

Well-loved brothers, Max and Harley, are a bonded pair of 8-year-old Golden Retrievers. Currently fostered in Aberdeen, Scotland.

Character-wise they are the sweetest boys out, love cuddles and attention. Max is quite vocal but a lot of this is because he is unsure.

Harley is quite cheeky and sneaky despite his submissive behaviour. He loves to check out the worktops for anything edible if you turn your back. Harley has also finally shown some excitement, he now runs to the gate each day when hubby comes home.

He gets really excited about food as does Max. We are still working on gentle when taking treats and it is a lot better. There is no food aggression at all. I can touch and take away their food bowls very easily. They don’t steal from the other dogs heeding any warnings given if they get too close during meal times. They love food and treats which helps greatly with working on some basics. They are now house trained just the odd accident but these are now very rare. Usually a result of being anxious or scared of something.

They both sleep on the dog beds in our bedroom at night. There is a degree of separation anxiety, this current situation has not helped as I’ve been at home 24/7.

Harley does walk beautifully loose lead and his recall is very good. Max is keen to learn and has now mastered sit and down. He is getting better with stay. He also walks well loose lead only pulling at the start of the walk. His recall is ok but he can be distracted.

Max will play with my own dogs but Harley takes himself away from any play situation letting them know he does not want to. He will however play fetch with me on a 1:1 basis.

Neither of the boys go on any of the furniture. These two lovely boys are devoted to each other and will make fabulous additions to their new family.
