Maxim Lawrence

HE HAS BEEN SUCH A GOOD BOY

In foster, David and Alison said “Maxim is huge but gorgeous. He is playful, affectionate and friendly with humans and dogs alike.

As expected, he took to his forever humans straight away and they immediately loved him too”.

HAPPY IN HIS FOREVER HOME (June 2015)

Dawn tells us “Max is amazing it and it feels like he has been part of our family for a long time”.

Max says ” I had a long journey down to my home but settled very quickly. Everyone loves me especially my new Mum and Dad xx”

MAX LOVED HIS FIRST HOLIDAY (August 2015)

Phil and Dawn tell us Max has settled in brilliantly and is still as hungry as ever! They recently had a couple of weeks in Devon and he absolutely loved the sea.

MAX’S HISTORY

Maxim is an intelligent, male, Cream, Labrador Retriever. He was just a year old a few days before coming to IRR. He is micro-chipped, has had his Vet check and was neutered.

When their circumstances changed, his owner contacted IRR after hearing about us through friends. We assured her that he would get a really fantastic home where he would be treasured and loved as do all our IRR dogs do.

ASSESSMENT

He has an amazing personality and is very affectionate. This wonderful boy is ideal in most situations and would make a great family pet.

SOCIAL LEARNING

Travel: Maxim loves going for spins in the car.

Housetraining: He is house trained.

Basic training: Maxim has the basic commands like sit and lie down. His recall is good when he is calm and with no distractions so still needs a little work. For such a young dog, he is really doing quite well.

Leadwalking: He isn’t good on the lead but this can be easily remedied with patience. Once tired, he improves. A game in the garden for twenty minutes with a ball usually burns off excess energy and he is much better. He is kept on the lead outside as his affectionate, exuberant personality when wanting to meet other dogs and play with them can be misconstrued.

Feeding: He tends to gobble his food so has been taught to sit and wait for 5 minutes before being allowed to eat. His family have never tried to take the bowl away from him when eating as he eats so fast that it has never been an issue. An anti gulp bowl would help counteract this.

Children: Maxim is brilliant with children and is very used to them but he is a big boy so perhaps, a home with older children rather than toddlers would be best as little ones could be knocked down by him accidentally.

Dogs: He is great with other dogs, gets on well with them and fits in very well.

Cats: He doesn’t seem too bothered with cats.
