Oscar
Dobby is a huge neutered, Golden Retriever puppy (DOB Feb 2016) who came to England from N Ireland.
HISTORY
His previous owner, who relinquished him due to lack of time to spend with him, said he likes having company, cuddly toys, peanut butter and treat filled Kongs, laying with his head on your lap getting petted, hugs, long walks, swimming, chewing sticks and playing with other dogs. He dislikes being left alone for too long.
PERSONALITY
David, his fosterer, says “Dobbie is a big softie who loves to play and be fussed. He likes to be involved totally and he is on the go most of the day although not OTT crazy boisterous. He loves to play with people and other dogs.
He would like to be a landscape gardener when he grows up as he is often busy repotting plants and trimming winter foliage!”
HEALTH
He is in good health with lovely teeth. He is a large boy with puppy gait and floppiness. His front feet are slightly outurned and his elbows turned in.
SOCIAL LEARNING
BASIC COMMANDS: His size belies the fact he is so young so expectations are probably higher than they should be. He doesn’t know his name but does sit. He likes to be groomed, bathed and being blown dry after.
TRAVEL: He is not keen on cars and often needs to be assisted getting into the car. Once inside, he travels ok but with some drooling.
HOUSETRAINING: He has had a couple of toilet mistakes. He jumps at odd noises but is ok with hoovers etc.
LEADWALKING: Dobby walks quite well on lead even when excited.
SEPARATION ANXIETY: He will make a super pet but work needs to be done on separation issues – although not bad for age this could easily become worse if not handled sensibly. He does settle at night and has no problems but he doesn’t like to be left so he whines and barks for 2-3 minutes. However, he is getting better all the time.
DOGS: He is respectful of getting a telling off from Bonnie and plays energetically with Daisy.
DOBBY’S DREAM HOME
Dobby needs proper exercise and continued training but he will make someone a wonderful dog once he has grown up. He would love the company of another dog and an owner who was home most of the time.
DECEMBER 2016
He was successfully rehomed very near to his foster home just before Christmas.
