Oscar Byrne
Oscar is a neutered male Golden Retriever who was 4yrs old when he came to IRR. He is good with children and a good traveller.
UPDATE FROM FOSTERER’S DAUGHTER (30/12/2008)
Oscar was first fostered in Berkshire by Betty and family. Her daughter Clare said:-
Just an update on Oscar, wow the photo didn’t do him justice, he is even more gorgeous in person!
He seems to be settling well, he has had a few growls at Poppy but she doesn’t seem too worried by it, and he met my dog Murphy for the first time out walking today and that all went well, and tomorrow we will walk again and then see what they are like in the house. He is very strong on the lead but hopefully that will settle. I am doing much of the walking at the moment as worried he will take Mum off her feet lol.
He travels like a dream but cowers when it’s time to get in the car, I have been lifting him in, although after walking this morning he actually jumped in himself which was a relief. Once he learns car means lovely walks I am sure that will become the norm!
His coat is very matted and in the nicest possible way he stinks! He is off to the groomers tomorrow and I am sure he will feel much better after that. I do wonder if he has been in kennels recently as he really does reek and has a rub on his nose like kennelled dogs get when they push their nose through the bars.
The pic is from our walkies this morning.
UPDATE 31.12.2008
Oscar has had a haircut and is ready to wow any prospective new people, well actually whoever sets eyes on him will be smitten immediately!
He hasn’t been socialised very well, he is quite nervous with other dogs when out, although absolutely perfectly behaved, just tense in his body language. In the house he is much more confident and at ease. He loves children.
MOVE TO CORNWALL
Just the right home for Oscar came along so he was transported to Cornwall to finish his time in foster with Louise and family.
He is now living happily in Cornwall with a lovely family on a smallholding.
