Oscar
Oscar was surrendered to IRR as he was dog aggressive since being attacked by a small dog in his own garden when he was a pup. Oscar is 4 years old and has found his fourth and final home with Sandie in Ireland.
Sandie says, Oscar was fostered by my niece for a couple of weeks while Lorraine was searching for the perfect home, but she got a full time job and could keep him no longer. With the help of a friend, I regularly walked Oscar with my own dogs near the beach where we would meet lots of other dogs, regularly stopping to chat with their owners and we could see his confidence steadily growing. There was the odd grumble from him, but nothing serious and we just averted his attention. I brought Oscar home with me one day and had him in the run, but could see he was dying to get out to play with the others, so I took the plunge and let him into the garden where he played and ran around with Monty for hours. He immediately bonded with Monty and has grown in confidence every minute of every day, they run around the garden together at great speed. He walks very well on the lead, leaning into Molly all the way.
It’s early days yet, but Oscar is now safe, secure and loved and will continue to grow in confidence with the help of Anouska, Tina, Jordan, Barkley, Jessica, Molly and Monty and has a long and happy life to look forward to.
Note his lop-sided ears!!!
UPDATE FROM HIS ‘FOREVER’ HOME – AUGUST 2011
Sandie says “Oscar is now well and truly ensconced as one of the family with Monty being his favourite sibling. His manners are impeccable, he waits for his dinner and leaves the room immediately upon finishing and never goes to the other dogs’ bowls or tries to steal their food, unlike some I could mention! When I open the front door he runs straight to the car and never deviates, which is a good thing as we’re surrounded by fields of sheep. He’s lost 2 kilos already which is not too surprising with all the running around he does. He’s one very happy boy who is loved very much”.
