Peggy Hales
IT’S PEGGY’S 4th GOTCHA DAY (19.3.2020)
Many congratulations beautiful Peggy. How different your life is now to what it would have been.
HISTORY
Peggy is a beautiful female Golden Retriever who, in 2016, was just 13mths old when she was surrendered to IRR because her owners did not have the time to look after her and give her the care she needed. Like any Goldie pup of her age, she is lively and boisterous and needs lots of play, exercise, love, attention and training.
In the words of her fosterer: “Peggy is an absolutely wonderful and sweet loving, little girl who with some time and patience is going to be a superstar!!”.
HEALTH
Peggy is in good health and is now spayed, microchipped, wormed, and is up to date with her vaccinations. She was fully health checked for her Pet Passport.
PERSONALITY
Peggy has a wonderful temperament. She is very sweet, easy going and friendly with everyone she has met, including dogs. She wants to be where you are and she loves showing affection.
Peggy is described by her fosterer as: “Overall, one of the loveliest natured dogs I have come across and when taking treats or toys off you, she is incredibly gentle and careful.”
SOCIAL LEARNING
Peggy, through no fault of her own, has not had the best start in life. At first she was very nervous in her foster home but she is now coming on in leaps and bounds. Consistent training and patience has meant Peggy is almost house trained. Her fosterer tells us that Peggy is intelligent and that she is quickly learning and responding to basic commands such as “sit” and “down” and she will now sit and wait while you put her dinner down and won’t eat it until you say. She will also happily let you take her food away. Peggy loves sausages!!
Children: Peggy is good with children in a house environment and enjoys joining in their games – especially football! She sometimes needs reminding not to jump up when she gets excited.
Dogs: Peggy enjoys playing with the fosterer’s GR bitch and there are no problems as Peggy is quite a submissive dog.
Cats: Peggy likes to chase the resident cats. She is being playful and doesn’t mean them any harm. The cats will give her a batting when she does chase but nothing deters her as she gets selective deafness when they are near!
Lead walking:
Peggy is no longer nervous when she is out walking on the lead but can be quite reactive to dogs and people (in a very excited way) though she soon settles down once she has met and greeted them. She will need some more training with her lead walking and further work on her recall.
PEGGY’S DREAM HOME
Peggy would love a home with a family who will give her regular exercise and plenty of cuddles every day and who are able to devote the time and attention needed to continue her training. Peggy would be happier in a home with someone who is around most of the time as she doesn’t like being left alone for long. As Peggy can be a bit ‘bouncy’, she’s not recommended for a home with small children.
“Peggy has a complete love of life and wants to be completely involved in whatever you do.”
GREAT NEWS (March 2016)
