Pippa
ANOTHER OF THE RESCUES NEEDING A NEW HOME
Due to a tragic terminal illness, very old friends of IRR, unfortunately, have to rehome all their rescued animals. The dogs were going to remain in Ireland with their owners until we were able to find them a loving home.
Pippa was a 4 year old, spayed black Lab (or, maybe, a close Cross). She did look very much like a Lab but her fur was slightly harsher than that of a Labs. She had been surrendered to the dog warden 3 years before as an unwanted pet.
She had been extremely timid at first. She used to sit in a corner and just watch the other dogs but there was no aggression in her at all. She had come on in leaps and bounds and had become much more confident. However, she was still frightened by raised voices or if someone picked up a mop or broom……which tells its own story!
She will play quite happily with other dogs…male and female and would probably be happier living with another dog. It was not recommended that she be rehomed with cats but older children and other dogs would be no problem.
She was quite good on the lead. Although frightened initially, once she got going on her walk she was fine. She was good in the car on short journeys but had not been tested on journeys over 30 minutes. She had a typical Lab’s appetite!!
