Purdey Adams
A NERVOUS GIRL NEEDING A GENTLE HOME
Purdy was a 4 years old, very pale coloured, spayed female, Golden Retriever. In 2014, her family were distraught at giving her up but could not keep her because they had got cats whose quick movements unnerved and frightened her.
FOSTER ASSESSMENT
Purdy was fostered in Burnley.
She is not the usual buzzy 4 year old Golden but is somewhat quieter. She is stubborn at times and likes to do her own thing.
Purdy has been brought up with children but she is quite food orientated and could snatch food from small children who wander around with food in their hands so she would be best suited to a home with older teenagers or no children at all.
IRR were told she had not been socialized with other dogs but her friends, Dizzy and Belle, have shown her having pals can be good fun and great company so dogs don’t pose any problem at all.
PURDY’S DREAM HOME
Purdy cannot be rehomed with cats. She would best suit a family who have patience and who are around most of the time. Purdy really deserves a very loving, caring home where she can get all the love and attention she craves.
GREAT NEWS December 2014
Purdy went to her Forever Home
PURDEY’S FIRST DAY IN HER FOREVER HOME
Jenny tells us “Purdey (was Purdy) is even more gorgeous that we’d imagined and has really attached herself to us (ie Nath and I, not Sax yet). She was as good as gold for the journey back but was very scared at first so we spent time making her feel happy and safe.
Initially, she was really scared of Saxon, barking whenever she saw him, but he was very good and just stayed out of her sight when possible. We also kept them separated all the time to allow them to settle.”
PURDEY’S SECOND DAY
“We had great progress on this morning’s walk with them being able to walk side by side with no issues. We love her to bits already and are sure that she will soon learn that she has nothing to be afraid of.”
CHRISTMAS UPDATE (27 Dec 2014)
“Here is our beautiful Purdey with her new friends over Christmas. She’s been so good and has now settled in fantastically.
She’s currently dozing on the floor amongst 4 dogs which we’d never imagined she’d have been ok with after getting home with her this time last week.
Her retriever cousin is Shea, who belongs to my Granny. He’s a golden oldie at 15, an ex RSPCA boy. They are being typical retrievers, begging for turkey at any opportunity. Purdey seems to have a bit of a crush on her other cousin Scamp, a little heinz 57.
Purdey is wearing a harness in the pic, and standing on a Christmas blanket. It does look a little like a cape… she has a penguin toy of Shea’s in her mouth.”
