Rory Parks

NEW HOME, NEW NAME

“Well hello! Ray here. Or RORAY, as new Mum calls me. Which will soon be Rory, apparently. New Dad can’t remember what to call me sometimes so, then, I’m just Big Boy!

This is me in my new domain. Who knew so many people would love me? I’ve got foster mum and dad, foster brothers and sisters, and now a whole new family with two brothers. One is called Rufus, who is an old man, and the other one is a pesky pup called Parker. You can see him in Mum’s official photographs, being annoying.

Yesterday, I mostly chilled out in my new house and new mum took me for a walk after dinner so I could ‘walk it out’ when things got a bit lairy in the house. Parker started it, honest!

I slept in my new bedroom with my brothers and my IRR blankie and settled down nicely. Parker Pup started barking when new Dad’s alarm went off. I hope he doesn’t do that every morning – a boy needs his beauty sleep!

New Mum and Dad clearly adore me, which is as it should be, so I think I’ll stick around. I might be on to a good thing here.

Now where’s that Parker Pup? I think he needs a bit of bitey face………”

FOSTER REPORT (23.2.2020)

Foster Brother Barnaby reporting “We’re all smiling today! Whoop!
We’re all smiling because mum has taken down the horridier then horrid gate she sometimes puts up. The HHG is for when we have new foster dogs who are so very, very, very worried by their journey over the nasty rough sea and so very worried about coming to live in a new house that they don’t want to be our friends at first.

They need some time to themselves just to be and that helps them feel a bit better but it’s always really sad for us because we keep telling them that everything’s all going to be ok and they’re safe but sometimes they can’t quite trust us at first.

And poor Ray didn’t trust us until today. We did lots of walking together and lots of having treats together and it worked! So, today, is the bestest of best days because there’s no HHG in the daytime anymore.

And when he trusted us Ray showed us a new game. It’s called ‘let’s make Dad think we’re helping’ …. Ray spotted Dad picking up all the bits of tree that had fallen from the sky when the big big wind was here and Ray did his very best sad eyes to show Dad just how much he wanted to help him so Dad said Ray could help as long as he had his long line on – just in case something frightened him and he wanted to run and run.

Then Dad said we could all help .. hooray! We all went to play LMDTWH together! Our very first game together! and wowzers! Ray is brilliant at LMDTWH … he’s stronger than strong! He brought Dad the biggest bits of tree and even showed Samson how to do it! but, when I joined in, I thought I’d better let Ray think he was the bestest at playing LMDTWH so I picked up some teeny tiny bits of tree …. not because I’m not as strong as Ray. Gulp! No, no way! I know I’m big and strong …. it was just because I wanted him to think he was best. Grin. Mum said I was a bit of a wuss … I think that means I’m a big strong kind Golden and the best at playing LMDTWH.

Mum Brushed Ray today and … and … he liked it! He lay down and rolled onto his back and had his tummy brushed and even his tail … Mum says he looks all nice and smart. She brushed Bill and Ben and Samson and Delilah but not me. Grin. I hid in the bathroom until it was time for tea.

There’s never any time for brushing after tea on on Sunday’s but I was sort of wondering why she brushed everyone? Maybe there’s something happening that we need to be spick and span for? and I’m not spick and span so maybe I do need a bit of a brush!”

GOING HOME

Barnaby reporting again “What a very special day we’ve had! Our very own Ray of sunshine found his Forever Family! Well, he didn’t find them, IRR found them, but today he met them.

So Ray looked at his probably new Mum, and Ray’s probably new Mum looked at Ray and they both smiled. Ray’s probably Mum said she loved him and Ray’s probably new Dad smiled … a big smile … and Mum’s eyes leaked a tiny bit.

So Ray’s probably new Mum and Dad were his definitely certainly new Mum and Dad and he jumped into their car all by himself and lay down on his special blanket for a snooze!

We’re all going to miss Ray. We’ll miss him a lot especially Samson as they played together all the time – absolutely all the time! Then, this morning, he brought me a teddy … he’s never done that before … and we had a little play at tug and dancing and bowing.

I’ve almost forgotten that when he first arrived he didn’t like me or Samson very much!

But the bestest news of all is that Ray’s new Mum and Dad said they will bring Ray and his brothers to Norfolk for their holidays very, very soon so we all know we just said “goodbye” to Ray for a little while because we’re going to see him again.

So we’re just five now … it’s much nicer being a six though so we’ll make sure that Mum listens when we tell her we’ve got room for one more again”. ….
