Rocky
ROCKY’S (was Blarney) HISTORY
Rocky is about 10 years old and was found straying, but despite everyone’s best efforts to find the owner, nobody came for him. He gets on well with all animals and kids. He’s been described as THE perfect dog by the Rescue who surrendered him to IRR.
Fosterer’s First Report – UK: July 2012
I collected this happy chap early Sunday morning, and we had a temporary stop over at my mum’s in Nottingham before traveling to Wiltshire.
This meant Rocky was introduced to 3 other dogs(2 Goldies & 1 Yorkie), all of which he was happy to be around. He also met my nephews and niece (age ranges from 18months to 9 years) and he was happy to just take the attention 🙂 So he passes the dogs and children test with flying colours!
We then travelled to Wiltshire, Rocky doesn’t get into the car of his own choice yet but he does travel pretty well with no sickness issues.
On arriving home we went for a walk around the byway to investigate the sights and smells, he does pull a bit on the lead but this can be corrected with the normal training.
We have also met the horses and he doesn’t bark at them. I don’t have cats so cannot say on this one.
Rocky is a very happy boy who just wants all the attention, giving you a paw to remind you to stroke him if you stop. He loves being brushed and was happy to be bathed. He has now had a serious grooming makeover with a bath, removing the fur clumps, trimming the hair on his feet, grooming and replacing his collar as the old one had clearly been on a long time and was starting to fall to pieces.
Rocky also didn’t understand stairs – until this morning at which point he gave it a go and was so pleased with himself that he went up and down 3 times!
A very special home needed for this very special boy, who has already stolen the heart of my parents and my hubby. The most loving boy with a keen and ‘eager to please’ expression always on his face.
Fosterer’s Second Report – UK: AUGUST 2012
Rocky has settled in well and I now have a shadow. Rocky just loves attention; he is quite an insecure dog, possibly after so much change in his life recently, so he feels happiest when he’s near me.
He doesn’t seem bothered with toys and is much happier chewing on a bone than playing.
He doesn’t like thunder and becomes a quivering wreck on hearing it.
His lead training is much better however his recall is poor so he would need some further training before being let off the lead.
Rocky really is an uncomplicated dog who loves going for walks and being groomed and just looking for a family to love and cherish him.
Rocky has so much love to give; only a special family will do.
