GOODBYE SWEET GIRL (23.7.2018)

On Monday 23rd July, a very upset Paula told us that her Mum’s lovely dog Rosie had been put peacefully to sleep that day. The poor girl had last stage heart failure and she had been steadily deteriorating over the previous week. This was particularly tragic as beautiful Rosie was still relatively young at only about 8 years old. Having been fostered by Paula, Rosie was subsequently, adopted by her smitten parents for whom Rosie proved to be the most perfect dog and she was loved to bits by them. Paula said “My poor Mum and Dad are in bits. They do still have Lucy, their rescue Lurcher, so I’m hoping she will help to make Rosie’s loss that little bit easier. This happy photo was taken only a couple of months ago”.

Rest your weary Golden head and drift off into dreams
Frolic in the sunshine and bathe in God’s moonbeams
Use the stars as stepping stones to take you to your peace
The strain of life forgotten now that you have found release.

Without rain a flower folds, the petals drop and die
There was no way to save you, your loss has made us cry
As we shed our many tears, we have to let you go
To Heaven and God’s garden to blossom and to grow.

The little seed is planted, you’ll be watered every day
The angels will tend all your needs as in their arms you lay
Your life will be amazing and filled with wondrous things.
Rest in peace, sweet Rosie, go fly high on angels wings.

ROSIE’S HISTORY

Rosie was about 18 months old when rescued by IRR in 2012. She was picked up as a stray and served her 5 days in the Pound. She was, then, fostered in Ireland for a couple of weeks before travelling to the UK where she was fostered by Paula in Lancashire.

FOSTERER’S INITIAL REPORT – IRELAND: February 2012

Rosie is great with cats but likes to be the boss with other dogs once comfortable in her surroundings. She is house trained but can have the odd accident when she gets nervous. Rosie is shy about getting her lead on at times but once on and gets some reassurance is ok; she does pull a bit on the lead but after the first 10-15 minutes, she walks fine. She is good around children and she has learnt to sit and give kisses. She’s is a very smart dog and quick learner.

Rosie does not like to be left on her own, even if she has canine company, she seems to yearn to be in the company of humans. Rosie wants to be loved.

FOSTERER’S INITIAL REPORT – UK February 2012

Rosie soon settled after meeting our three dogs, she seemed very tired and slept most of the first evening. She slept in the kitchen on her bed all night and was vey good. The second night in the kitchen was less successful, but she settled once I opened the kitchen door giving her the freedom of downstairs.

Rosie has had no accidents overnight so far. She has been very friendly towards the dogs she has met and seems to like cats. She likes to chew any odd shoes left lying around and has even had a go at the remote control! Rosie pulls on the lead but stops when corrected. When left in the house for a short time she gets quite stressed, so she would need some help to get her used to being left alone. This seems to be her only problem and she will make someone a wonderful pet.
