Rowan Ward

One of Kaleigh’s babies, ROWAN is a sweet, playful black and tan puppy, now almost six weeks old. His tan markings are perfectly symmetrical and he has a shortish coat. He is named after a tree, like his brothers Cedar and Ash whilst his sisters were all named after flowers. He is one of the surprise puppies born to the very beautiful and very young golden retriever, Kayleigh.

He loves to be cuddled and loves to get in a box and go to sleep. He is really sweet and cute.

Rowan’s Diary

13th October 2007

Well we arrived home about 8.15pm last night and we were shattered, it had been a very long day but very worth while. Rowan travelled very well to Bridgewater, as soon as he was out of the car he had a wee and a poo on the grass, so very much praise was had, and he enjoyed all the fuss, we stayed for about an hour and a half and then we set off for home, he cried for about 5 mins and then settled down and went to sleep and never woke till we got home at around 8.15pm.

We put him in the garden and again he had a wee, he then went exploring and found the pots! When he came indoors he went straight into his cage and had a good old sniff, and followed Bonnie everywhere, she is so excited, but did give him a gentle telling off once or twice. Rowan then had his tea because he must of been so hungry and ate the lot, with a trip back to the garden and again we hit the jackpot, will this last!

He slept most of the night and woke once, We came down and put him in the garden and had a play for half an hour and then he went back to sleep ubtill 7.00am this am.Then he went on to have his breakfast and is now in the garden with Phil exploring.

He is so beautiful and has made such an impact already. Going to have a quiet day today so that he can get used to our home environment.

14th October 2007

Hello I thought that you would like to know that i am settling in very well in my new home and i am being a good boy. I do miss seeing you and my brothers and sisters but i am having lots of love and attention here, and i have lots of new toys to play with. I have a new friend called Bonnie and sometimes she puts me in my place a little, but she lets me rub noses with her and i run after her in the garden. I have been a really big boy and i wee and poo in the garden, i did have a little accident on the floor, but my new mum just picked me up and put me in the garden.

I have a lovely soft bed to sleep in that is in my cage and i am a pretty good boy at night, i only woke up twice in the night, my new mum and dad came and took me out for a wee and then they played with me before i fell asleep again. I did have a bit of a fright with a big bird squealing, but it was a seagull and my new mun picked me up and cuddled me and told me that i would get used to them because there are lots around here. I have been in the garden with toys, and a football and it has been really good. I have had some photos taken and whe the camera is full, mum is going to email them all toy you.

I am going to go to sleep again now. I am being a really good boy. I hope that you are not missing me to much.

First Week

Well thats the first week of Having Rowan gone, and it has just flown by. We have done lots of nice things and been out and about, met lots of people and other dogs, and he is getting a little used to the seagulls now, does most of his pees and poos in the garden, have had the occassional accident, but on the whole he is just adorable. I left him in his cage for 45 mins while i took Bonnie for a walk and he was good as gold, left him with his toys and a chew, and i dont think he had moved from when i got out and he was so pleased to see me.

He is a right little thief if you put anything down, its gone and in his bed in a flash. He just adores everyone.

Tomorrow will be his first day of work with myself and Bonnie, everyone is waiting to meet him.

I hope that Kaleigh and the rest of her puppies are doing as well as Rowan. Will get him weighed later this week, i know he has put on weight, he is getting very heavy to carry now, and another 2 weeks yet before we can take him out on a lead.

19th November 2007

Rowan has learnt how to get on the sofa without any struggle, he ran off with Cody’s dummy the other day and he had it the right way in, he did look funny, but i did not have the camera handy.

29th December 2007

Rowan has been a bit mesmerized by all the goings on over the christmas, but he has been very good, although he has pinched a few things, mainly Codys dummy, and cup and a few toys.

He is quite a strong character and likes to think he is top dog, we are having a few battles but nothing we cant handle.

He is never far from Bonnies side, he is trying to hold on to her fur and so as been told off quite a lot recently, but he will learn. We are also trying to stop him from jumping up when people come in the door, he is just pleased to see them, but he must stop jumping.

He is such a great dog though and does funny things, and barks at himself in the mirror.

23rd April 2008

We have been re designing the garden and putting in new decking, Rowan runs off with all the tools and puts them in the garden, then he has to have a look at what your doing, or jumps on your back to have a nibble at your ears, and him and Cody are going to be best friends for lots of years, along with Bonnie of course.

Rowan is absolutely fine and growing in to a very handsome chap, although he has always been a handsome chap, his looks just keep on improving. Rowan has been in the vets and has been castrated, and what a very good boy he was, although it was very difficult to keep him quiet when he came home. We have managed to break the camera which is why there have been no photos for a while, but hoping to sort out a new one very soon, so will get snapping and get some off to you.

Rowan’s temperament is very gentle and he is very inquisitive, but he is afraid of any sudden movements or noises until he knows what the situation is, it’s comical to watch him sometimes, and he loves to chase his tail. He likes to run most of the time and jump around at everything. The day he went in the vets to have his op, Bonnie was in a dreadful state without him, and was so glad when he came home, they both snuggle up on the sofa and Rowan has got to be touching her.

Rowan is very good on the lead, we have him on a gentle leader as he was pulling for England, he now sits at every kerb and waits, we are working on his recall all the time as he does not like to always come back to you. He loves it in the woods, and goes in the river and the marsh, then comes bounding out to greet you all covered in mud or slime, and the beach is his favourite I think, and he has so many little friends that we see regularly when we are out, they all know Rowan.

16th September 2008

Rowan is such a joy and always a bit of a challenge which is good, he loves everybody and everything but is a bit of a coward with any sudden noises or movements, comes in running and jumps on your lap or tries to hide away. He has got the best relationship with Cody and that’s great, I think because they are both babies they have grown up together. Cody opens the front room door and entices Rowan in to play with him and his toys, or they both climb on the sofa to look out of the window to see whats going on in case either of them miss anything. Neither can go without the other one.

His temperament is great and he is just gorgeous and Bonnie just adores him, as they lie together on the sofa, or he kisses her ears. She does have enough on the odd occasion and will let him know. He still likes to go in his cage and also have his own time. He likes the beach but is not to keen on the water unless it’s a dirty puddle!

We were unable to make the reunion as we were away on holiday, but hopefully next year, we will have to wait and see. Will get some more photos off to you in the near future.

I know that you have your hands busy again with the puppies but i know how much you enjoy it. Take care and i will be in touch again soon. Love to Tara and Fable and all of the puppies.
