Ruby
In 2008, RUBY, a Golden Retriever puppy, was just coming up to 6mths old and came over to the UK before Christmas. She was surrendered to us because she could be possessive over food and her possessions and she was living with small children so not a good mix.
She spent a few days with Denise initially, where she was very well behaved, and she was spayed there (her vet felt she was old enough) then she moved on to Jackie.
She spent Christmas with Jackie and family in Norfolk. Bridie really did love having her……….honestly:)))))))))
She then moved to Gemma, one of our behaviourists, where she proved to be a little star.
UPDATE FROM GEMMA (DAY 3)
Gemma says ” Well what can I say, what a lovely happy go lucky little girl!!”
“We’ve been outside for a proper lead work session and she already knows where heel is and can keep it up for short periods (which is all I asked for). It went so well we started the very basics in road drills (sit and wait on a very quiet road) and she was excellent at that too.”
“I’ve just scatter fed them all at the same time to see what happened. She enjoyed ‘hunting’ for her dinner which, of course, slowed her right down and she didn’t bother with the fact the other 3 were ‘hunting’ right near her. I really tried to push her for a reaction and scattered some of the Burns food to hunt and, although she recognised it straight away, she didn’t bother that the others jumped on it too.”
“I’ve had 2 quiet nights and the only puddles have been during the evening when I’m most busy with the kids so they were my fault but no prezzies for me to find :)”
“All in all, she’s a great little dog. I normally try the dogs at different diciplines to see what they like most but, as she’s only a baby, I don’t see the need just yet but, having said that, I honestly feel she would be the sort of dog happy with pet dog obedience at a dog club – a solid walk with a game of ball a day – a game in the home and a long snooze and cuddle in the evening ie a perfect family pet.”
RUBY IN HER NEW HOME
Ruby has settled down very quickly. She is a little ‘madam’ but Jane and Lee are besotted with her already.
Her first night was great with no chewing, barking or piddling. She has learnt the cat litter tray is out of bounds but her only problem is that she ate all the cat food……well nobody’s perfect!!!!!!!!
UPDATE APRIL 09
Lee said. “Ruby is doing very well, grown up into a strong happy doggy, still full of mischief but also well behaved if that makes sense?
I’ve attached a few piccies so you can see how cute she’s become (or at least she tells me that!)”
