Shauna Titterton

Gone to Rainbow Bridge

THE MOST DEVASTATING NEWS 18/8/2013

Nicky, who fostered her, told us that Shauna was diagnosed with heart failure by Vera’s vets a couple of weeks before and they had started her on tablets but, despite this, unfortunately, the condition had worsened. This had come as a big shock as Shauna’s heart had been given the all-clear on both occasions when she was seen by Nicky’s vets so the onset must have been very rapid.

On 18th August, Shauna became very distressed and the vet was called out to the house. She told them that there was nothing she could do for Shauna and the kindest thing was to let her go. Her adopters, needless to say, are shell shocked and totally gutted, as are her foster family who also loved her to bits.

The one comfort is that Shauna, in the last months of her life, finally knew the meaning of TLC and the true kindness and love that humans can give. She was adorable and, although her time with them was short, she has left a huge hole in everyone’s hearts.

Fly high Shauna and enjoy all the freedom and fun that lies beyond Rainbow Bridge.

At the end of the rainbow lies a place
That trescends the bonds of time and space
This is a home of lasting peace
Where pets are whole and turmoils cease

For many it’s been toil and strife
So much torment in their life
For some their end was quiet and calm
For others, panic and alarm

And those whose life was full of pain
Heal quickly and are whole again.
The end’s the same and all are here
No more sorrow, doubts or fear

Quickly, they will learn to cope
All here are safe and full of hope
The chain once broken will reform
To meet again here is the norm

They play, they jump, they skip and run
All happy here and having fun
They reunite with friends of old
So that’s what they call fields of gold

They pass their time in joyful mood
No hunger here, there’s loads of food
At night they rest in comfy beds
Happy dreams in sleepy heads

But every day there is a time
When one dog listens for the chime
The bell’s ring tells them someone’s here
And one dog’s human will appear

SHAUNA’S HISTORY

Shauna, a 7yr old spayed female, was surrendered to IRR in relatively poor condition. She had a growth on one eyelid which has now been removed by our wonderful vet and she’s making a great recovery.

FOSTER ASSESSMENT

Personality:
Shauna is a very gentle girl who was a little shy to begin with. However as she has settled she has become very social. She charms everybody who meets her. Shauna is totally clean in the house with no accidents at all. She likes to follow everyone around and supervise whatever they are doing 🙂

She is good with other dogs and is currently living with a Labrador and another Golden Retriever .

In general she is a low energy dog but she loves her walks and will sit for her lead to be attached.

Shauna can be a little nervous around food and isn’t always sure she should eat it. She would rather leave it if she isn’t sure. She prefers to eat from something flat rather than a traditional bowl and she likes to eat outside. She has now learned to take treats from your hand!

Shauna is very comfortable with children and doesn’t seem at all phased by their noise and chatter. She is however interested cats!

Shauna’s Dream Home:
Due to lack of exercise in her previous home Shauna is overweight and will require a gentle build up in exercise having just been spayed. She needs some patience and tender loving care to help her continue to develop her confidence but she is an absolute star and will reward your efforts and make a delightful addition to a loving home.

June 2013

Shauna went to her Forever Home but her happiness was to be short-lived.
