Tyler Bottomley
Tyler as a stray who ended up in the Pound was originally called TAYLOR and was estimated to be somewhere in the region of 2 to 3 years old. He had been recently neutered.
The description of him from the people at the Pound was “Taylor is a very well cared for long haired Lab!!!!!!!! “
They also said “Someone must be missing him…………he’s very friendly”.
At that stage, they expected him to be claimed but they said, if not, for sure “He will make someone a very loving companion”
UPDATE ON TAYLOR FROM JACKIE
Taylor came to me last Saturday 20.10.07, Gwen very kindly transported him to me after having him for a couple of days due to transport delays.
So far, I have found Taylor to be a very affectionate dog, he was of course at first very unsettled due to not knowing what was happening to him. He attaches himself very quickly to people as he was looking for Gwen after she left.
Taylor is not the type of dog to come running over to you to meet you for the first time, he is a bit wary of strangers to begin with but does warm to you after a little while. I have had him for 5 days now and he is just beginning to relax a bit, mind you it`s amazing what a few gravy bones and schmackos can do lol.
Taylor is housetrained, but does not know any basic commands like sit, I`m working a little bit with him on this. He does not pull on the lead though, so must of had some training in his life.
He sleeps in a crate at night with no problem whatsoever, as a matter of fact he is in there waiting for me to give him his goodnight gravybones and a schmacko after he has been out to do his business.
Taylor is very good a jumping and scaling, so will need secure 6ft fences at least. He will need to be watched in the garden until he is totally settled, which will take a little while.
He gets on quite well with my dogs Bridie and Gizmo but doesnt seem to want to play much, he is a lot more interested in human company and would make a good only dog or with another dog that is fairly laid back. He loves playing ball.
Taylor with Bridie (he is the darker dog)
He can be a little grumpy towards other dogs when he is out on his lead, but, saying that, his tail was wagging. I dont know what he would be like off the lead though. I think this grumpiness could be due to him feeling insecure with his new surroundings at the moment.
He saw my neighbours cat yesterday while we were coming back from the woods, and was very interested in it. Like a lot of dogs he probably would have chased if he hadnt been on his lead, but then so would a lot of other dogs. It would probably need quite a confident cat to let him know who is boss, but I cant be sure about that.
He met a couple of small children at Gwens the first day he arrived, he seemed fine with them, but to be honest he was very tired from the long journey he had just had. So could do with a few more meetings with children.
I feel that poor Taylor needs someone who is very calm and will give him all the TLC that he has been missing. Human contact and plenty of love is what he craves for.
He needs a big hole in his life filled. Could you be the person who can do this and help Taylor feel loved again? If so, please contact us and you never know this lovely affectionate little man could be your loving companion for life, as I`m sure once he gets to know you he will be very very loyal.
UPDATE ON TYLER
Anne, his new mum says “Well, what can we say? Tyler has settled in very well. On his first night with us, we had a sleepless night as a result of his unexpected silence. Thus, only he had a good sleep!
He is a very docile dog, but very affectionate and loves human companionship. Tyler really is a man’s best friend! He never gets tired of a tickle!
He loves to play ball and loves his walks. He is not so keen on being rained on! On his walks he is a bit unsure of other dogs, but his tail is always wagging. He is always happy to see humans; especially if they spoil him with attention. He is not so happy to see cats, however. The goading territorial cat next door now knows its place.
Today we let Tyler off the lead in the fields. He had a very good run and played with other dogs. When he thought we were going home he ran back to us.
Tyler is a really lovely dog and he is a delight to have in our family”.
