Woody

The very handsome WOODY was about 3yrs old when rescued. He is a very big Labrador. We were looking for a very EXPERIENCED home with NO CATS and NO CHILDREN but he could live very happily with another dog especially if that happens to be a girlfriend like Bella (his foster sister).

We insisted that anyone adopting Woody would need to give him firm guidelines as in our 12 Basic Rules to ensure that he remained the lovely, happy, well-adjusted boy that he now was.

WOODY can be fearful of things because of his past life but we seem to be overcoming this with flower essence therapy and good training.

UPDATE ON WOODY 7/2/07 from Nancy (his fosterer)

Just a little update on Woody. This dog is amazing! I cannot believe anyone could give this dog up – he is truly the perfect dog! There have been NO episodes of growling/snapping in two weeks now. Woody has taken to Wally, too, and even wearing a white shirt, there is no sign of the previous uncertainty. Two of the neighborhood children met us on our walk this past weekend, and Woody was the happiest lad – they fussed over him and no signs of any growling, etc. They spent at least five minutes petting him – his tail was wagging the entire time. Woody is also a quick learner. He knows wait, stay, sit, come, give paw, and we are working on other commands. I think this is the real Woody you were speaking of, Pauline. What a happy fellow. Whomever adopts him will be extremely lucky to have him. All that he asks in return is lots of love, discipline, continue his training, a comfortable home, toys and he will return the love/admiration one thousand fold. As we Yanks say, he is “a keeper”.

UPDATE FROM HIS FOREVER HOME (2.3.07)

Woody has now been in his forever home for two weeks and his new owners have been following the training advice given to them by Nancy to the letter, which has really paid off. Angela, his new mum says Woody loves everybody and has taken to my brother who has been taking him out. He is so obedient and very loving. He is settling in nicely but he is definately a womans dog. When my mum came to visit, he followed her from room to room and was only happy when she sat down so he could be petted. He really is adorable.

FURTHER UPDATE ON WOODY

Angela says, Woody is absolutely fine. He now gets on with any dog when we take him out. He was a lot better once we took him off the lead. The only problem now is that he is absolutely terrified of thunder and lightening so, two weeks ago, I was up all night with him and I think bonfire night could be a nightmare.
