Zoran

Gone to Rainbow Bridge

Zoran passed to Rainbow Bridge in 2020.

History

Zoran is a 12yr old Golden Retriever boy who was fostered in Essex. He is a sweet, gentle dog who has settled well in his foster home.

He seems to love everyone and everything he meets. He greets every visitor with a silly bark and a wiggle so he’d be little use as a guard dog. He learns rapidly but he is not treat focussed so he is happy with just a cuddle when he does well.

Zoran is fine in the car and loves going for a walk. He walks well on a body harness with no pulling. He can now manage up to an hour of gentle strolling as long as the weather is not too warm for him.

He loves other dogs and will wait for them to come and say hello. Thus, his walks are very slow if there are other dogs about. He’s really keen to say hello to other dogs, whatever size, gender or breed. He lies down to greet small dogs and sits to say hello to larger ones. He would probably be fine living with another dog of similar age. He appears to ignore cats.

He adores people and children and greeting everyone gently and carefully. He is always lovely with children and seems to enjoy their attention, again, lying down to greet the smallest. He would probably be quite happy living with slightly older children who are dog aware and would let him sleep / rest when he needed to.

Zoran doesn’t eat like most Goldens, often leaving a bit in his bowl (even if it’s something really tasty). He is quite happy with the food but he just hasn’t got a huge appetite. He will take treats if offered but he doesn’t ask for them. He was very overweight when he came into rescue. Now, he is 32kg which is much better as his lower body weight relieves pressure on his arthritic legs. Currently, his arthritis is under control and he shows no signs of pain, just a little stiffness.

At home, he loves to mooch around the garden to find a nice shady place for a snooze. He sleeps through the night and often needs to be woken up for his breakfast. He will bark if he needs to go out or if it’s time for a walk but it’s only a gentle squeaky little bark.

Zoran is not too keen on being left alone although it’s difficult to say whether it is because he doesn’t like to be alone or whether he thinks he should be out with his foster parents. He is so a bit cheeky and so adorable. Whoever adopts him will be very lucky.
